REINDEER MULE....FESTIVE CHRISTMAS COCKTAIL

I think this is the most excited I’ve ever been to create a holiday cocktail for you all! I have missed the Reindeer Mule! So, this is how it came about; several years ago, I had this at a local favorite restaurant/brewery of ours and it was out of this world delicious. I remember I took a picture of the ingredients that were in it although it didn’t give the amount. Last year when we went, it was no longer on the menu despite be wildly popular and I was so sad. Enter this year when my dear friend Kellyann told me about the Jack Daniels Winter White Whiskey Cider! I knew I wanted to create a cocktail with it, and it got me thinking about creating my own Reindeer Mule at home for the Yeti Bartender! I had made my own simple syrups before so I knew I could create the cinnamon cranberry simple syrup that is such a great base for this and thus this festive and beautiful Holiday Mule was born! I will be drinking this all season long!

The photo below is the restaurant inspo,
not near as pretty as mine, lol!

What You'll Need

Reindeer Mule
Makes 2

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 oz Winter Jack Daniels
          Whiskey
1/2 oz Fireball Whiskey
1 oz lime juice
1/3 cup Homemade Cinnamon
        Cranberry simple syrup
1 cup sugar or sugar sub like
    Swerve or Monk fruit
1 cup water
1 cup cranberries
2 cinnamon sticks

12 oz Ginger Beer (can use Diet, or Cranberry Gingerale)

Optional Garnishes:
-Cranberries
-Lime wedges & slices
-Mint Leaves
-Cinnamon Sticks

DIRECTIONS
Ok, first of all, you want to make the delicious homemade cinnamon cranberry simple syrup which is the essence of this amazing take on the Festive Moscow mule.
In a saucepan, bring the cranberries, sugar, water, and cinnamon sticks to boil, reduce the heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes until the cranberries are starting to burst open. Put a mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour the liquid through it. Use a masher or fork to mash the cranberries to get even more liquid through the strainer. Store the syrup in the refrigerator in a glass container for up to three weeks, it will make enough for several cocktails.
To assemble the cocktails, in an ice filled shaker, place the Jack Daniels whiskey, the fireball, the lime juice and 1/3 cup of the cranberry simple syrup. Shake well import evenly into two ice filled Moscow Mule mugs. You can use cocktail glasses too as it is such a pretty red color! Open your ginger beer and add half into each mug. Garnish with desired garnishes and serve, so festive!

No prob to put it in a regular cocktail glass,
I mean, just look how pretty!!

And here is the darling T-SHIRT I wore for the
Latest Yeti Bartender which you can view below!

FRIDAY FAVORITES...NOVEMBER NICE

I must say, November has been way “NICER” than October but it’s going to dang fast! Slow down please! I cannot believe Thanksgiving is Thursday but I’m so ready for that turkey dinner with my sweet, small crew!

1. So "DEER'
Well, I’m happy to say all my decorating is complete! One of our sons came home Saturday to help with the outside stuff and put together the glorious lit deer family that my mom got me as part of my Christmas present. I just love them to pieces. And I love that our boy will still get up on the roof and hang those high wreaths. Balls too! What a great helper!

BUY SIMILAR DEER SETS HERE and HERE

And then the next day we had a 50 mile an hour winds and knocked one down so it actually took two sons to get it back up there later in the week, LOL!

2. "Reindeer Mule"
YETI BARTENDER
It was an absolute no-brainer that I would create my favorite holiday cocktail of all time for the Yeti Bartender Series! I first had this delicious Reindeer Mule at a local brewery several years ago but last year they took it off the menu and I believe I even told them how incredibly sad I was about that. LOL. But I had taken a picture of the ingredients one year so I was able to concoct it at home along with my own homemade cinnamon cranberry simple syrup!
Check out my latest YouTube video.

AND on Sunday here on the Blog, I will have the entire recipe and a post dedicated to said yummy Reindeer Mule!

3. Home for the Holidays
TARGET GIFT GUIDE
Here is another great gift guide, this time dedicated to Target Holiday Hone! You guys, they have so many good pieces right now and my favorite is the musical Snow Globe

While 2020 has been tough for many reasons, there have also been many bright spots so I got a couple of these $10 Snow Globes as gifts as a reminder of the good! The red truck with a Christmas tree in the back and sweet snow swirling while playing Jingle Bells is just delightful! I also have the three wick candles and they are amazing and only 10 bucks.

4. Target PJ's
Speaking of Target Goodness.... OK, I keep saying this but every pair of coziness I get becomes my favorite and these thermal plaid joggers and long sleeve shirt SET from Target have my heart big time! Get you some, they come in several patterns and would also make a great gift, it would even be good to layer them under your clothes for outside play. And you MUST Have some fuzzy Leopard Slippers

 TURKEY CHEESEBALL
A friend of mine asked me for the recipe for this turkey cheese ball and well I’ve shared a photo of it with y’all before, I decided I should share the recipe in case you wanna make it next Thursday!

Turkey Cheese Ball

Ingredients

1 14oz tub sharp cheddar cheese spread (we like Merkt’s)

1 block cream cheese, softened

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Chopped pecans & optional fresh parsley to roll the ball in.

Stick pretzels, candy corn, candy eyes (I got mine at Michael’s and I’ve also seen them on Amazon) and a little frosting to hold the eyes and candy corn on with.

Directions:
Mix the sharp cheddar cheese and cream cheese with a hand mixer until very creamy, add in garlic salt and Worcestershire and mix well again. Wrapped in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours. Remove and roll the cheese ball in the pecans & fresh parsley if desired. Stick the pretzel sticks in the back for the feathers and with an additional pretzel stick add a little frosting to the top for the eyes and the front for the candy corn nose. Chill on a cheeseboard until ready to serve. The cheese ball itself can even be frozen ahead of time and just let it thaw a little bit before creating the turkey appendages.

FRIDAY FAVORITES....HELLO NOVEMBER

What a glorious week! Although it was an exhausting week because of the election, the weather could not have been better for northern Indiana. 60s and 70s, sunny and delightful and it’s going to last right until next Tuesday! When I was not outside, I was inside decking our halls like crazy and it is looking gorgeous! I cannot wait to share it with you. For now, Let’s get right to Friday Favorites!

1. The YETI Bartender is BAAACK
CARAMEL APPLE MIMOSAS
It’s back! I brought back the Yeti Bartender to showcase my new favorite Fall cocktail! This would be perfect for the holidays and I’ve already made it several times! When we went to lower Michigan a few weekends ago, I had a Caramel Apple Mimosa and I knew right away that I would want to re-create it! Go over to the Yeti Bartender & My Channel and check it out and let me know what you think!

2. MOM's Birthday Yesterday
Many of you may have seen that my sweet mama had a birthday yesterday on Instagram stories! And while we couldn’t really go out and do anything, we were blessed with the gorgeous weather. I made her one of the above-mentioned caramel apple mimosas, a lovely salad some naan bread with brie cheese and bacon jam and lemon mousse for dessert. I’m including the recipe below. Then, we went and walked 5 miles on our local pumpkinvine trail, and I got to shower her with sweet gifts but there could never be enough gifts to thank her for being the best mom in the whole wide world! I am very blessed!

Lemon Mousse with Shortbread

Ingredients

1 cup whipping cream

2/3 cup lemon curd (I find this in the jelly/jam/PB aisle)

1/4 cup powdered sugar

3-4 Shortbread Cookies

Lemon slices, raspberries and mint sprigs for garnish

(also, I dip lemon slices in sugar)

Directions

With a mixer on medium speed, mix together whipping cream and powdered sugar. Move mixer to high speed until soft peaks form. Fold in Lemon Curd. Crush some shortbread cookies and place in the bottom of 4 desert dishes. Top with Lemon Mousse and desired garnishes!

FRIDAY FAVORITES....VACATION EDITION

I cannot stop thinking about our beach vacation and wishing I was still there. I’m telling you, nowhere have we felt safer from Covid and been more impressed with social distancing, than in northern Michigan. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite activities from Up North!
MY FAVORITE Friday Favorites of the Year so far!

KIDS
We only got two of our kids for three days, but we sure did make the most of it! We had lots of beach fun.
The boys had seen this on TikTok, it’s where you place 4 tallboy cans of alcohol in brown bags, you get half of them that are really yucky and half of them that are decent and you mix them up and see which one you get!  Of course, I got a yucky one, and no, I didn’t drink it! Mr. Nine is not a fan of Papst Blue Ribbon either, LOL

We had a fun alfresco outing at a distillery.

And at a Brewery

And played a new game that Mr. Nine's sister got him for his birthday, and it was so much fun called Molkky from Finland

KIDS AT HOME
Not only did we come back to an immaculate house and mowed lawn, but one of our sons surprised us one day with the YouTube of him and his girlfriend being my guest hosts for the Yeti Bartender and creating the most wonderful cocktail called the Frankfort Sunset, which was the town that we were in. I’ll link it up here now so you can check out their amazing video and cocktail if you haven’t yet!

KAYAK DAY
I think our kayak day it was one of the best we’ve ever had because we kayaked a new lake and were pretty much the only ones on the lake, had a beach picnic and found an inlet where we kayaked right out to Lake Michigan.

My pictures do not ever do it justice but much of Lake Michigan is as blue as the Caribbean!

DAY TRIP to CHARLEVOIX
We’ve been to many towns in upper Michigan, but We’d never been to Charlevoix! Boy, were we in for the treat, not only was it a gorgeous day but town was precious, and my favorite parts were watching all the boats, eating at an amazing Cantina with the best margarita....

And finding this darling flower shop for a photo op!
Next year, I’m going to wear a pale pink dress in front of those flowers, LOL!

And oh yeah, the mushroom houses!

And the fun didn’t stop after Charlevoix, we went to a really cool place called Mammoth Distillery where we were pretty much the only ones in there taste testing.

Then ended the evening with a beautiful sunset and our favorite fries from a place called Frank’s!

ST. AMBROSE CELLARS
This amazing place has been around for a decade, but it was our first time visiting! It was all outside and tables were about 12 feet apart, they had a food truck where we tried jackfruit for the first time, which tastes like pulled pork but it’s fruit! A great singer was playing music in the barn and my slushy made with their rose and mead was delicious! A delightful evening.
The food above looks like pulled pork but it is JackFruit and it was soooo good!

TRADITIONS
Traditions on our annual vacation are always very important to us. While there weren’t as many this year because not all our fam was there, we still partook in some of the best. Like Ray's Burger Joint in Grand Haven on the way up and way back.

Walks on the Pier

Friday Night Fish Dinners from the Port City Smokehouse

Delightful Lemon Custard Ice Cream at the Frankfort Dairy Maid.

And My annual creme brûlée frappe on the way out of town at the Conundrum Cafe!

Taking Our Time Heading Home
We are never in a hurry to get home, so we take the scenic route and this time we stopped at a yummy Creamery. Got some chocolate milk and came home with cheese and cheese filled beef sticks. I was really hoping that cow would've been bigger, lol!
