FRIDAY FAVORITES....WOULD'VE BEEN

I’m quite melancholy today because we should’ve been in Bloomington, the first college graduation of the year was to happen this weekend. It’s going to be freezing cold here and I have to carry all my flowerpots inside, all 24 of them and cover all in the ground because it supposed to frost. In a couple weeks will have a dinner to celebrate our graduates. This Friday favorites is part one of two. I’m not even going to go into the soft opening for our state this week, let’s just say we’re going to continue to do our diligence and stay home for the most part. And this Friday Favs is packed full of goodness!

1. Our IU Graduate
Tomorrow was the Day
Tomorrow, we would’ve attended our first graduation at Indiana University for this handsome and brilliant son of ours! I cannot even tell you how incredibly proud we are of this young man and all that he has achieved! Plus, he’s just a genuine sweetheart! I’m not gonna lie, I’ve cried several tears over not being able to see my kids graduate. I even wrote a Blog Post about it. But, the company Herff Jones was sweet enough to send the boys their caps and gowns so we can get some pictures at home and in a couple months we will travel to IU and get some pictures down there with the whole family. For now, I got some in the backyard to commemorate what would’ve been the commencement tomorrow. It was extra special because this is Indiana University’s bicentennial year and all the kids got special copper tassels to commemorate those 200 years. Next week I’ll share our other graduate as his ceremony would’ve been on the 16th.

His division had this on their Instagram
He was their Student Government President

Special Tassel

And I had to share this. Even though his degree is in Informatics and Business, once upon a time he dressed up as a doctor when he was four years old for Halloween. At that time, I worked at the hospital so my friends in HR made him a special badge and our materials management department got him the mask, and the booties and a coworker made his scrubs. So stinking cute and the mask is pretty relevant today, LOL

2. The YETI Bartender
"Bailey's Chocolate Martini"
If you know me, and you know I am absolutely crazy about Bailey’s Irish cream! I especially love in the fall and winter in hot chocolate and coffee. However, imagine my delight when the idea spring in my mind to do a Bailey’s chocolate martini for the Yeti Bartender! It is not only gorgeous, but it is absolutely delicious! Check it out!!

3. Queen of the Pool
I got the sweetest surprise in the mail this week! At first it was a sweet mystery because I didn’t know who it was from but in the back my mind, I had a feeling it might be this darling friend of mine! My dear Lisa From Coast to Coast who all of you know and Love, had sent me a package through the mail that she handed directly to the postman. Well, it never made it and it was full of all of my favorite things as Lisa knows me so well and has impeccable taste! She felt horrible that the USPS lost my package and was so precious to send me this T-shirt that I absolutely adore! She and I are both big-time pool girls and this T-Shirt is so me! I love it so much and I love her!

It is freezing cold in Indiana now, but we got lucky this past weekend and were able to have our first pool day of the season! The temperature was in the high 70s and the pool was perfect. Here are some highlights including my new favorite hard seltzer, strawberry, whip cream and amaretto snacks, my new elephant ears all potted and...

...... on our pool shed, a robin bird has built a nest and laid five eggs! It was also Lisa who told me that the mama Robin just lays one egg a day. So cool. I cannot wait to see the sweet little one’s hatch. We try to stay as far away from it as possible to give her space!

4. Bibs Again
Wearing my Jean overalls in every season. You remember when I styled it with a black turtleneck and sock booties? Well, with the warmer weather, I can just put a white tank underneath and maybe a lightweight button up over it.

POSTS OF THE WEEK
Wednesday ~ Bringing The Brights

AIR FRYER

Yep! I finally did it. And I should just call this Friday Favorites the Lisa edition because After discussing it with her, I bought the air fryer she recommended and I’m so excited to try different recipes in it. BUT first attempt, I burnt the fries, the boys said NOT to use the fries preset as it is way too long. THOUGHTS PLEASE.....so I don't burn anything else.

LEOPARD SANDALS
I am crazy for leopard shoes especially, but I have this quirk where I like them to be the genuine calf hair, so I was so excited to find these heeled sandals in the perfect leopard.

SPACE BUNS
I put my hair in space buns the other day. I loved them but my poll on Insta showed only about 2/3 of you liked them, lol.

MOM
Mother’s Day will look very different this year. We won’t be going out for brunch and we will be masked, and no hugs but I will get to see her and nothing can diminish a mother’s love!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to so many out there. I know it is a tough day for some and extra tough in other ways this year. Try to make it a good weekend! Love you all!

  6. Oh Andrea, I feel for your son and your family. It has been exactly 20 years since my IU graduation--wow! And every year this weekend I think about the graduation ceremony. It was a very hot day! I hope your at home ceremony is fun and memorable. That is nice you plan to head down later in the summer to get some pictures.

  18. I'm so sad about all the graduations. Katie's cap and gown didn't even get here in time for her "virtual" graduation and they didn't send any special tassels or anything, for her graduating Summa Cum Laude. What the heck. Your sweet boy looks adorable in his cap and gown, and most importantly, very employable. LOL This might have been my favorite post...I can't imagine why?! HA! Thanks so much for all the shout outs. You ROCK! I'm so happy you love the t-shirt. Yes, it's perfect for both of us. I should have gotten one for myself. I also can't wait to see what you do with the air fryer. I made fish again this week and it was soooo good. I'm sharing the recipe Monday. Have the best Mother's Day weekend. Hugs to your and your mama!!! XOXO

  20. I'm so sad for all of the seniors. Glad that they still sent them their cap and gowns to wear to take pictures at least. Air Fryer, frozen fries take WAY less time than you think. I always start frozen stuff around the 7 minute time frame. I made air fried red potatoes and did 350° for 10 minutes then flipped then did them at 400° for 6ish minutes, then kept adding small amounts of time till done. Frozen nuggest, 375° for 6-7 minutes, flip then add another 3-4 minutes. Way less time than you think. Tried to make egg rolls, don't do it! haha, must better fried! We use ours almost everyday!

  23. Enjoy your sweet time with your mom this weekend! I am so sorry that you had to miss your son's graduation. I wanted to skip mine but my mother wouldn't let me... looking back I still didn't feel like it was a big deal but now that I'm a mom I get how a big a deal it was for HER.

  24. Congratulations to you son! That's such a huge deal! It's really awful he doesn't get a graduation ceremony. Does he have a job lined up? What does he plan to do? I love your Queen of the Pool shirt! I'm ready for summer at all times.

  25. Happy Mother's Day and your son's graduation is still incredible...ceremony or no. I totally understand how it's disappointing that there isn't a ceremony, yet it's like a wedding. The important part isn't the ceremony, but how we spend the years after it. Not that makes you feel any better...but it's still SUCH a terrific accomplishment. Hugs, love and more hugs!!
Love ya, and love the tee!! Wish we had a pool right now. I can't wait until the rec centers open.

  30. So sad you don't get to have the graduation ceremony for your son but it's nice you still got the photos and he must be proud of his achievement even without the presentation! :)

Your pool tee is so fun and I like your overalls too, you wear them well! :)

Hope that you are having a good weekend :) Since some of the restrictions have been relaxed in Brisbane we were able to enjoy a picnic yesterday! With social distancing of course, it was so nice to enjoy some time in the park. They've relaxed the restrictions more today so we can go visit our parents (up to 5 people can visit).

  31. Glad you get to see your mom! I hate it for the graduates this year. They have worked so hard, and to see so many events cancelled that they didn't get to participate in makes me sad. Our governor is opening the state back up...and I am not changing one thing about how we have been living the last several weeks. Maybe I will reassess in a month after I see the numbers. She opened the state up the day after we had the highest number of cases reported. So stupid. Anyways. Happy Mother's Day to you, sweet mama!!!!

  33. I will never get over how beautiful robin's eggs are! Sending lots of hugs, your boys are absolute troopers. And we are with you - even though our state has started slowly re-opening we have remained home. It's too soon. I am all for small businesses and restaurants running again, but I don't think it's time to start acting like we are back to normal.
