FRIDAY FAVORITES...BYE APRIL

Hard to believe it went from snow last week to 80’s this past Tuesday, BUT it’s going to get down to 35 tonight so I will have to cover my flowers but better cover 1 might than the 7 I had to cover last year. BEST part of the week: I got to hug my mom since we are both now fully vaccinated. First time I hugged her since March of 2020! And I got to see a boy this week, first time I’ve seen any of them in a month! And the pool is open!

1. Weeknight Date Night
Who are we? Mr. Nine and I had our first weeknight date in years! And on a Monday to boot! He knows how much I love listening to outdoor live music and literally it was the perfect night as we knew the weather was going to be great. It was way too windy so of course I wear a hat but what a treat to be outside, sipping on some yummy adult beverages, some delicious pimento toast and just chill. And then we got Chick-fil-A on the way home, LOL! Here’s to this happening lots more this summer!

2. Nature
Oh, how I love nature and everything that goes along with it especially in the spring. From returning birds and animals to blossoming trees to green grass and digging in the dirt with my flowers, its new life so grand. Now I just need my hummingbirds to return, it won’t be long. I found So many blessings in nature this week!
SWANS
Did you know the swans famously mate for life? Unless they get a “divorce” because one of them doesn’t build the nest quite right? True story. And geez, pretty high expectations there, LOL!
Anyhow, I was happy to see their back in the pond!

NEST
Those Robin birds are creatures of habit! We have a nest in the same spot as last year our pool house and for sweet little eggs this year! I’m going to be keeping tabs on these little sweeties, without disturbing mama of course!

BABY GEESE
Imagine my surprise when I was walking round the pond this week and there was a group of baby geese with mama and daddy! So sweet!

FLOWERING TREES
Flowering trees are always incredible in the Spring but this Spring they just have extra pretty color round here!! Look how gorgeous at my mom’s!
Up close, it's even more breathtaking!!

4. Brights
It’s no secret I love bright colors but especially in the spring and summer. I showed you this top for The Weatherford Last Friday but I shared my favorite picture on Instagram this week, a Plaza about 30 minutes from our home has these beautifully upside down decorated umbrella‘s and I couldn’t believe how well my outfit matched!

It was also share week with a fabulous group of ladies on Instagram this week and this was one of the favorite tops I shared. This embroidered Darling Top is from another fabulous Texas boutique called Avara! So many cute things!
And Here are the Earrings and Shoes.

OPERATION HAT TRICK

I wear ball caps often on my walks. And more so in the warmer months. As you know, I just love Americana and having veterans in our family including my dad and Mr. Nine, I was super happy to contribute to the cause of Operation Hat Trick. The '47 Brand (my fav) will contribute proceeds of the sales of operation hat trick to wounded service members and veterans.

Operation Hat Trick is dedicated to Nate Hardy and Mike Koch, two Navy SEALS who trained together, fought together and died together on Feb 4, 2008. Nate and Mike are buried side-by-side in Arlington National Cemetery.

SUNDAY SALAD

The words Sunday salad just seem to fit the beautiful salad I created last Sunday. I often make this type of salad with a garlic expressions dressing or my own. However, many people were raving about the 60 cal Wishbone Garlic Basil Vinaigrette and I can see why! It reminds me of the dressing that comes in the lemon arugula salad at Trader Joe’s and it is beyond delicious! I simply took mixed greens, added some cut-up mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes, shaved Parmesan, roasted pine nuts in butter, some baked chicken and oh was it ever delicious!

FRIDAY FAVORITES....WOULD'VE BEEN

I’m quite melancholy today because we should’ve been in Bloomington, the first college graduation of the year was to happen this weekend. It’s going to be freezing cold here and I have to carry all my flowerpots inside, all 24 of them and cover all in the ground because it supposed to frost. In a couple weeks will have a dinner to celebrate our graduates. This Friday favorites is part one of two. I’m not even going to go into the soft opening for our state this week, let’s just say we’re going to continue to do our diligence and stay home for the most part. And this Friday Favs is packed full of goodness!

1. Our IU Graduate
Tomorrow was the Day
Tomorrow, we would’ve attended our first graduation at Indiana University for this handsome and brilliant son of ours! I cannot even tell you how incredibly proud we are of this young man and all that he has achieved! Plus, he’s just a genuine sweetheart! I’m not gonna lie, I’ve cried several tears over not being able to see my kids graduate. I even wrote a Blog Post about it. But, the company Herff Jones was sweet enough to send the boys their caps and gowns so we can get some pictures at home and in a couple months we will travel to IU and get some pictures down there with the whole family. For now, I got some in the backyard to commemorate what would’ve been the commencement tomorrow. It was extra special because this is Indiana University’s bicentennial year and all the kids got special copper tassels to commemorate those 200 years. Next week I’ll share our other graduate as his ceremony would’ve been on the 16th.

His division had this on their Instagram
He was their Student Government President

Special Tassel

And I had to share this. Even though his degree is in Informatics and Business, once upon a time he dressed up as a doctor when he was four years old for Halloween. At that time, I worked at the hospital so my friends in HR made him a special badge and our materials management department got him the mask, and the booties and a coworker made his scrubs. So stinking cute and the mask is pretty relevant today, LOL

2. The YETI Bartender
"Bailey's Chocolate Martini"
If you know me, and you know I am absolutely crazy about Bailey’s Irish cream! I especially love in the fall and winter in hot chocolate and coffee. However, imagine my delight when the idea spring in my mind to do a Bailey’s chocolate martini for the Yeti Bartender! It is not only gorgeous, but it is absolutely delicious! Check it out!!

3. Queen of the Pool
I got the sweetest surprise in the mail this week! At first it was a sweet mystery because I didn’t know who it was from but in the back my mind, I had a feeling it might be this darling friend of mine! My dear Lisa From Coast to Coast who all of you know and Love, had sent me a package through the mail that she handed directly to the postman. Well, it never made it and it was full of all of my favorite things as Lisa knows me so well and has impeccable taste! She felt horrible that the USPS lost my package and was so precious to send me this T-shirt that I absolutely adore! She and I are both big-time pool girls and this T-Shirt is so me! I love it so much and I love her!

It is freezing cold in Indiana now, but we got lucky this past weekend and were able to have our first pool day of the season! The temperature was in the high 70s and the pool was perfect. Here are some highlights including my new favorite hard seltzer, strawberry, whip cream and amaretto snacks, my new elephant ears all potted and...

...... on our pool shed, a robin bird has built a nest and laid five eggs! It was also Lisa who told me that the mama Robin just lays one egg a day. So cool. I cannot wait to see the sweet little one’s hatch. We try to stay as far away from it as possible to give her space!

4. Bibs Again
Wearing my Jean overalls in every season. You remember when I styled it with a black turtleneck and sock booties? Well, with the warmer weather, I can just put a white tank underneath and maybe a lightweight button up over it.

AIR FRYER

Yep! I finally did it. And I should just call this Friday Favorites the Lisa edition because After discussing it with her, I bought the air fryer she recommended and I’m so excited to try different recipes in it. BUT first attempt, I burnt the fries, the boys said NOT to use the fries preset as it is way too long. THOUGHTS PLEASE.....so I don't burn anything else.

LEOPARD SANDALS
I am crazy for leopard shoes especially, but I have this quirk where I like them to be the genuine calf hair, so I was so excited to find these heeled sandals in the perfect leopard.

SPACE BUNS
I put my hair in space buns the other day. I loved them but my poll on Insta showed only about 2/3 of you liked them, lol.

MOM
Mother’s Day will look very different this year. We won’t be going out for brunch and we will be masked, and no hugs but I will get to see her and nothing can diminish a mother’s love!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to so many out there. I know it is a tough day for some and extra tough in other ways this year. Try to make it a good weekend! Love you all!
