Today I’m doing something a little different and sharing with you one of my easiest meals because it happens to be the favorite meal I make for a son I have turning 21 today! I am so excited to drive the 4 hours down to his college today and take him out for a late birthday lunch. Although I would have preferred to have him home and making this meal for him, I’m just happy to see him for a couple hours on the special day and of course I am taking him this meal to heat up later in the week! I’m am also taking him a basket decorated and filled with 21 gifts, taking his favorite birthday dessert; apple crisp, stocking his fridge with a few more meals of course to get him through finals and wondering how I have a 21-year old when it seems like yesterday he was holding my hand and asking to be held.
You will love how easy this meal is and I bet it will please all your family with its hearty goodness. We always add the mushrooms to the gravy but if you do not like them, you don't have too.
HAMBURGER STEAKS & BROWN GRAVY MEAL
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 lbs ground sirloin
S&P to taste
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 cup cold water
1 can mushroom stems & pieces or a cup of fresh (opt. if you don't like)
Prepared Mashed Potatoes
(I mash mind with butter, skim milk and S&P)
DIRECTIONS
Fry sirloin in the skillet in 6 shaped patties until no longer pink. Keep warm. Mash potatoes. In a small pan, Whisk brown gravy mix with the one cup cold water until thickened. Add mushrooms. Over a patty and 1/2 dollop of mashed potatoes, pour some gravy over each.
I like salting the potatoes and hamburger with a little course sea salt as well.
