I have never made a
spaghetti bake before. But let tell you how good this was. So good, that my
husband had four helpings, yes, four helpings and must have told me five times
that I can make that over and over! Now that’s a winner in my book! And yes,
You guessed it, the leftovers were even better! I’m saving this
recipe in my “company” file, you know, The one where you put recipes that are
easy and delicious to put together for company. Plus, this makes a 9 x 13 pan
so it is a good amount!
Yum
Yum
At the very end, I stuck it under the broiler for about 5 minutes to get the cheese a little brown and golden.
This was so yummy, I made a pan of it for my son when I visited him at college this past weekend, will make for nice leftovers for him and his roomate this week.
What you'll need
ITALIAN SPAGHETTI BAKE

This was so yummy, I made a pan of it for my son when I visited him at college this past weekend, will make for nice leftovers for him and his roomate this week.
What you'll need
ITALIAN SPAGHETTI BAKE
INGREDIENTS
8 oz. uncooked spaghetti broke into 3rds (I always use Whole Grain or Whole Wheat pasta)
1 egg
½ cup milk
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon pepper
½ pound bulk Italian sausage (I use turkey
sausage)
1 pound ground beef: sirloin or chuck
1 small onion, chopped
¼ cup chopped red pepper
1 jar meatless spaghetti sauce
1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
½ cups shredded Italian cheese blend
Cook spaghetti according to package
directions; drain. In a large bowl, beat the egg, milk, salt and pepper. Add spaghetti;
toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. In a large
skillet, cook the beef, sausage (if using links, remove the casings), onion and red pepper over medium heat until
meat is no longer pink; drain. Add spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce; mix well.
Spoon over the spaghetti mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 20 minutes. Sprinkle
with the cheese. Bake 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand
for 10 minutes before cutting. Yield: 6-8
servings.
HAPPY TASTY TUESDAY FRIENDS!!

ReplyDeleteI've never made a spaghetti bake before but this sounds so tasty!! Sierra~Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteMy friend made baked spaghetti in college one time and I remember it being soooo delicious!!! Definitely have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteThis kind of reminds me of something I make called Spaghetti Pie!! My husband always uses ground beef AND sausage when he makes spaghetti or any baked spaghetti type of thing and it is always so flavorful! I am always lazy and I only use ground beef or I do the poor man's and omit any ground beef! LOL! I like the idea of adding it under the broiler to finish the cheese and I seriously need to get some better baking pans. Love yours in this post... I just have clear glass ones and they're so boring for photos! I am sure your son loved you bringing him a pan of it!!

I also like that you use Whole Grain or Whole Wheat pasta... do you notice much of a difference in taste? I guess it is a little healthier?

Oh gosh...any kind of pasta bake I am all over. There's something about the way the flavors blend and the cheese melts that make these bakes 4-servings worthy, I get it, lol. Hope you're having an amazing week!

ReplyDeleteThis is a favorite of mine, but I haven't made it in months. I need to make it again soon! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That looks amazing! I have made a few pasta bakes before but never tried it with egg and milk. That sounds and looks so tasty. Pinned.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine how good this tastes. But FOUR helpings? Wow! Please keep Mr Nine away from the leftovers cos I'm popping over to help you out! Hugs, x.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love recipes like this as I love to prepare this type dish for company and who doesn't like spaghetti? I am filing this one away. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh, that looks so good!
ReplyDeleteOh yummm! We hardly ever cook spaghetti but a casserole is a dish I can't resist. Four helpings from the husband means it was darn good! xo Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis

ReplyDeleteThis looks so good! it is a recipe that I will try when I get back from Texas. I'm waiting for my flight, which was delayed due to the plane late leaving DFW. Must have been longhorns on the runway...ha!xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy! I may have to go pick up the ingredients to make this week!
ReplyDeleteSounds really good! And so dang easy!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite kind of food! Thank you for sharing! I pinned this recipe, and I look forward to trying it out.

This looks like something my boys will love and it's nice to have fun variations to the regular old spaghetti. Thank you for sharing Andrea! I'll let you know how it goes when I make it!
ReplyDeleteI love that this has no cream cheese in it. My husband and I don't like that version, but I think this one could be a winner for us!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, my husband would be ALL OVER this too! He'll be really happy I hopped over from #FridayFrivolity to find this. ;) Thanks, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteI made this recipe last night and we loved it! The only thing I changed was I added more cheese and it was mozzarella, not a blend because that's what I had. This recipe will be made many times in the future. It's a winner!
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect and I am so glad you liked it. I have used all mozzarella before too and you cannot go wrong with more cheese for this yummy dish!
DeleteThis looks really good! #norulesweekendblog
