Confession, I do not like grape jam or jelly. I do not like PB&J sandwiches like my husband and boys do. I love grapes, grape juice, etc but jam...no way! Until I bit into a oatmeal bar from a friend and said "what is this?" Her response: "Grape Jam Bars!" Hello, a new holiday cookie recipe in my Christmas plate repertoire was born!! That day she gave me a plate of 5 different treats and this one blew me and our whole family away!!! Delicious, moist and such a pretty little bar!! Take it from me, even if you don't like grape jam, I bet you'll love these!!
They are such an easy bar to make.
They cut so nice with some firmness, but you bite in and they are soft and sweet.
Perfect Sweet Treat Gifts or to add to your cookie plates!!
I'm going to cut them into tiny bite sized squares for my plates and call them "Jam Bites!"

Grape Jam Oatmeal Bars
Ingredients
1 3/4 sticks salted butter, cut into pieces
1 1/2 cups Flour
1 1/2 cups Oatmeal
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 (10-12 oz) jar grape jam, or about a cup and a half
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-by-13-inch rectangular pan.
Mix together the butter, flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt & vanilla. Press half the oat mixture into the prepared pan. Spread with the grape jam. Sprinkle the other half of the oat mixture over the top and pat lightly. Bake until light brown, 30 to 40 minutes. Let cool completely, and then cut into squares.
They cut up into the perfect little bars to put in your tins too!

That's funny, I don't really like grape jelly either. But these do look scrumptious! I do have some grape jelly in the fridge, so I am going to have to trust you and try them.
ReplyDeleteI have made something like this before and have always loved them...something about that gooey, delicious oatmeal!
ReplyDeleteHow yummy! These sound so perfect to bring to a holiday party!

How funny that you don't like grape jam and PB&J sandwiches! I ate PB&J all the time growing up and I would only eat grape jelly, so these are obviously right up my alley! They look so delicious and pretty healthy too. Thanks for sharing, Andrea!

Absolute YUM! I'm a fan of grape jelly (my fave) so this sounds so good to me!
ReplyDeleteI love that you now have a way to eat grape jam that you like! My husband is always telling me to keep trying things that I think I don't like because I just never know when I might find a new way to prepare it! :)
ReplyDeleteI am not a jelly on toast type of person - but I do love oatmeal, so I might like these, too.

Yum! I'm not a huge fan of jam or jelly either, but I think that I could get behind these, especially if you like them too!
ReplyDeleteI've had something similar to this before and loved them! I will have to try your recipe when I'm in the mood for something sweet!
ReplyDeleteHoly yum! I love all things jam so these are right up my alley... and they are so unique! I've never heard of anything like this before!
ReplyDeleteThis just looks like an old fashioned yummy... something I can see my grandmother making. That's a good thing. Classic things are the best!
ReplyDeleteI am not a grape jam lady either. But I do love wine! I bet I would like these as well! Sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteHmm...I bet my kids would love these in place of cereal bars!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely after school treat these would make. Thanks for partying with us every week on #TastyTuesdays
ReplyDeleteOh. My. GAWD!! ONE thing we do not have in common is PB&J sandwiches! I grew up on them and grape jelly. It's the only kind of jelly I'll eat. Goodness, Girl! What am I gonna do with you?!
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious, can't wait to try it. Pinned and shared.
ReplyDeleteThese look easy and delicious!
ReplyDeleteThese sounds great! I'm going to try them out on some of my pickier eaters. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh! I haven't seen these or had these in YEARS. My grandmother used to make them. Oh, my gosh - did I say that already??? I am so glad to see these scrumptious bars, to have the memories from my childhood rekindled, and to have the recipe. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteThese look so good! I need to make these now.
ReplyDeleteI'm exactly like you with not liking grape jam or any jam for that matter but I'd definitely enjoy it in the oatmeal bar form. Yumm!
ReplyDeleteThese look so yummy! Pinned! Cannot wait to make a batch :)

Grape sounds like a good choice for these bars to me!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about grape jam... not my favorite but I have to try it in this recipe.. Looks and sounds amazing.
ReplyDeleteThese look so good. My cousin used to make a recipe very similar to this one. Thank you for joining Delicious Dishes this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tasty recipe. We enjoyed the bars but are still not grape jelly fans. I made it a second time with seedless raspberry jam instead. That flavor or other fruit spreads work better for us.
