Forgiveness is a fickle bird but it is also God's greatest gift to us. Isn't it amazing how our creator can forgive us for our sins but we can't always forgive each other? It's tough to muster up genuine compassion for those who have wronged us. However, that anger can eat you alive, so doesn't forgiveness seem like the right choice? I know it's easier said than done. Trust me, I know!! A grudge is a heavy burden to carry. Point your heart towards forgiveness instead.
Heavy stuff, and while I could definitely post about forgiveness to some people in my life who seriously needed it, in keeping it light while we ponder the choice of forgiveness, here are my more comical takes on forgiving those who have wronged me over the years.
I grant FORGIVENESS:
To The TSA Agent in 2002 who took my mini scissors on a flight home. Ok, first of all, your X-ray thingy missed them heading to the destination ( I accidentally had them in my carry on) Second of all, I was NOT going to threaten the pilot to redirect the plane to BORA, BORA, I just wanted to cut my bangs. I forgive you.
To The newspaper delivery lady who missed us two weeks in a row only to deliver in a downpour with NO plastic sleeve. I forgive you, soggy paper and all.
To The Colts game ticket taker lady who made me ditch my favorite cross body purse. One question? How are Ebay sales? I forgive you
Speaking of Ebay
To The guy who bid 7x's on my Ray Bans for sale, only to win the auction and refuse to pay. Dude, no $, no biddy! I forgive you.
To Judge #3 for not choosing me as Indiana's Perfect Teen in 1988. I know I screwed up the walk but I slayed the evening gown portion in my tangerine puffy sleeved hoop skirt gown. I forgive you.
To my Junior Semi Formal dance date for standing me up!! I sat for 4 hours in my pretty yellow dress then said screw this and went to Burger King with the girls. I forgive you.
To the girls who broke my son's hearts, thank you, the ladies are after them like bees to honey! And we did not have to buy you Christmas gifts this year. Win Win! I forgive you.
To the sales lady at The Loft who was so snooty and wouldn't give me the time of day. To quote the movie Pretty Woman "You people work on commission right? Big mistake! Big! Huge! I have to go shopping now." I forgive you.
To the sales lady at The Loft who was so snooty and wouldn't give me the time of day. To quote the movie Pretty Woman "You people work on commission right? Big mistake! Big! Huge! I have to go shopping now." I forgive you.
Here are some forgiveness quotes and reminders that you might find inspirational! Find a way in your heart and it shall be set free! I hope this week is wonderful for you all!

What a wonderful message, especially on MLK Day! Soggy newspaper is the worst.. I remember when I was young my mom laying them out on the counter to dry! Have a great day!

So well said:) Why is it sometimes so much easier to stay mad than to just think about how good it is to forgive (and literally, forget)? Two other thoughts - in my heart, you are and will forever be Perfect Teen, and what is that guy's address? I have extra rolls of TP and a few bars of soap with his name on it!
ReplyDeletelol this made my morning!! Especially the Pretty Woman reference :)
ReplyDeleteConfessions of a Frumpy Mommy
I HATE when people on eBay win an auction and then don't actually buy. Like thanks a lot dude!!

A Blonde's Moment
Wonderful post Andrea! I work at a store and I would NEVER treat anyone like that woman at Loft did to you. Thank you for sharing and I hope that you have a lovely day today!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great post and I love that you shared your light-hearted stories of forgiveness, but it is so true if we truly want to live our lives full of love as christians, then we must learn to forgive others. I really like the quote you shared about forgiving others for peace for ourselves. Thanks for sharing this wonderfully inspiring post this Monday. Hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYes, forgiveness is so important. Love your comical examples!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Andrea!
Spot on, Girlie! I loved this! Love getting to see the real you come shining through your posts through your writing and your fashion pics!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I always have to remember that we forgive because He's forgiven us....not because we feel like forgiving (or most of the time don't feel like it). Have a great Monday!

I love all of the forgiveness quotes! I guess now is the time to forgive the girl in preschool who stole my show and tell and tried to pass it off as her own... Ha! ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post on forgiveness, Andrea! Our pastor talks about it all the time. Forgiveness is so important because we are saying yes to LOVE and no to hate. Love you, Andrea, and I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

How awful is it that your date stood you up at that young age?! At least you decided to go out and have fun instead of being too bummed out. Forgiveness is key to this life.
ReplyDeleteLove this! And really, I've had the same experience at Loft before and all I can say is, "your loss!" Great post, I really agree that forgiveness is something that just needs to happen so we can stop punishing ourselves, really. It's hard to do sometimes though!
ReplyDeleteHahaha I like your funny take on forgiveness but you are so right. Forgiveness is so important and something we could all use a little practice on.
ReplyDeleteNormally the people in Loft wont leave me alone!! Unless I want someone to start a dressing room for me. Then those bitches are so where to be found. Getting stood up when you are younger feels like the end of the world. And so does a broken heart then. Glad your boys have a sweet mama at home to keep them smiling!
HA! This was seriously the best read of the day! Your hilarious way of discussing forgiveness was witty and cute, yet still got the message across of what it's really all about in the end. Hope you are having a wonderful day so far, my friend. Wishing you a great week ahead, too!

Great post! I really like this idea. I might have to steal it someday.
ReplyDeleteHa! Great theme and very true... but I was just waiting for the lady who took the purse at the Colts' game to come up!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am sure you deserved to be Miss Perfect Teen!
DeleteThis is so wonderful! I love the quotes, and your stories are a beautiful reminder of those I need to forgive in my life.
ReplyDeleteForgiveness is a tricky thing to master but wonderful when we do.
ReplyDeleteAnd I got a giggle from some of your forgiveness stories I must admit! Always good when we can forgive and laugh at situations that were terrible at the time.

What a great post - and I couldn't agree more! Thanks for the reminder today!
ReplyDeleteSometimes forgiveness is meant to be laughed at. Then just let it go.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! It can be hard to forgive those who have made our life slightly more difficult or have wronged us.This is a great reminder of how we should forgive and move on.
ReplyDeleteTotally made me laugh! You need to read For the Love if you haven't already...she totally has a thank you notes chapter several times throughout and they are much like these..hilarious. And seriously..I can't believe someone would have ever had the balls to stand you up!! Happy Tuesday gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteShared this today on FB. Do you have Facebook? If so, I'd like to follow you.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post! Forgiveness is something that always sounds so good in theory but in reality I struggle to forgive. But when I do, I always feel better and lighter. Loved your list of people you're forgiving--the girls who broke your sons' hearts... adorable! :)
