FRIDAY FAVORITES...FOR THE LOVE OF

Happy Fri-YAY! The end of January is signaling us that much closer to Spring. Pool opening is now on the books too for April 26th. But we did have a lot of snow this week and I must admit, it’s been GORGEOUS. This Friday Favs is for the love of...my fam, a sweet gift, great dress, etc...well, let’s just get to it.

1. Fun in Indy
Cannot even tell you how giddy I was, even just to get away for a few hours to see our boy in Indy with the crew. I’ll admit we are good social distancing stewards, and we stay home the entire weekend most weekends, so a day trip was exactly what the Dr. ordered. It was brrrr cold but our sons apartment is within downtown walking distance, so we did it and masks come in handy for the cold too. We were able to find a great eatery where we had a section of the restaurant pretty much all to ourselves, so it was glorious. Then back to the apt for Playing with our newest grand cat, Reese's birthday cake (celebrating 2), chillin out and virtual reality games (so cool)!

This beautiful girl! She happens to have a birthday on Monday! 25, the quarter century mark! In honor of her birthday, I shared a Cap’n Crunch shot with her on our trip to Indy and it was so delicious! If you’re not sure what that is, they coat the rim of a shot glass with cinnamon and sugar and it’s a mix of Bailey’s and Fireball, my two favorite liquors! Also, a favorite is this girl! She adds so much joy to our family and is the perfect person to be an RN because her heart is so full of love and compassion! Adore her! Yellow is her favorite color and look how beautiful she looks in it!

2. Red Truck Welcome Sign

The sweet girl above belongs to one of our precious sons and they both know how much I love red trucks! They saw Red truck Welcome Sign on social media and knew it had to be mine! The lady that makes them kind of went viral and so shipping was a little behind but how cool is it that when we got back to their house after our trip to Indy Saturday night, it had arrived! I love the interchangeable delightful, cute slides for the back of the truck! The shamrocks are on their way to me for St. Patrick’s Day and I also of course order pineapples!

Another also HERE sold on Etsy.

4. For the LOVE of Leopard

This DRESS! I cannot even tell you! THE BEST! I have had my eye on it for a while. It is one of the top-rated clothing pieces on the Mint Julep Boutique website! It is the perfect DRESS and a perfect dress for me! The leopard print is of course spot on and the ruffles not only on the three-quarter length sleeves, but the skirt are so fun and flirty! It’s another modest one that still has a sexy vibe, and I loved the elastic waist. It feels so good on and I would give it 10 stars!

MISSING MY BIRTHDAY GIRL

Our Daisy would've been 16 today. It's been a year and a half and I still think about and miss her every.single.day! Many of you have lost your beloved pets since then and spoken with me about it. I know your pain and I empathize with you so much. Read about the circumstances regarding her loss HERE.

LOVING TAN

Oh, How I LOVE this stuff. Yep, see my legs in the leopard dress above...tan thanks to Loving Tan. My legs are so white this time of year and Loving Tan has come to my rescue. I tried several last year and this is a clear winner 110%. Take it from a girl who loves to be tan. It is a lil pricey but lasts a long time and so worth it to me, especially since we can’t travel to get the sun and it’s a balmy 25 degrees here, lol. There are 3 shared but unless you're a ghost, get this Dark Shade. It's still not dark but a perfect golden! And very easy to apply. I love the Applicator Mitt too.

MEMES
(And note: I finished Bridgerton this week...so good!)

Someone knit me the Bernie below, lol...so cute!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!!!

FRIDAY FAVORITES....NOT SO PERFECT EDITION

This is a very interesting addition to Friday Favorites because it’s some of the not so perfect, sad and disappointing things in life. Often, we showcase our best on the blog, but I decided to do a little something different.

1. Daisy Mae
I really don’t know what this day is going to hold for me as it is the one year anniversary of our sweet Daisy Mae‘s passing! It is so crazy that in the months after she passed, so many of you friends and bloggers had your dear fur babies leave this world and you know how much I empathize with you! I’m not going to go into all my feelings on her loss as time does ease the pain a little bit, but I think this Post I wrote on it last year sums it all up from my heart!
And I am beyond ready for a new doggie, in fact I NEED a new pup for my sanity but Mr. Nine is not ready…boo!

2. Regis
We lost one of the most amazing men that the entertainment world ever created and that was Regis Philbin. One of a kind and a heart of gold! I was lucky enough to meet Regis on a couple occasions and he even had photos of the 2 us and he and my mom in his office. We shared a love for Notre Dame, and I am beyond thrilled that he will be buried on his beloved ND Fighting Irish campus! He was Notre Dame‘s number one fan of all time and an alma mater! I loved him with Kelly but it was his magic with Kathie Lee that had me mesmerized every morning!

4. Not So Perfect Pics but CUTE Outfit
Well, I have to say, this ended up being the perfect, “not perfect,” example of how things don’t always go as planned. Today, on Instagram, I was supposed to collectively join a group of ladies in showcasing a not so perfect picture. We always put our best out there so one of the ladies found an awesome quote and we were all going to share a non-perfect photo. Well, that got pushed off a week and at first, I was upset because I wanted it to coincide with my blog post today but, that’s just it, that’s how life goes and sometimes we just have to go with the flow of it, so I’ve included a not perfect picture here and I’ll post to Insta next week. In the meantime, it gave me a great reason to skip posting to Insta today and take a breather!

MORE Canceled Plans
Never in a million years did I think in March that Covid-19 would still be around come this Fall. But unfortunately plans continue to get canceled and I made a decision this week about one of the things I was MOST excited about this year! Going to Cali in September to stay at Lisa's with my Style Six crew. This would been our 3rd annual meet up but we decided it was best not to fly and for me, not to risk taking any germs from Indiana to my friends. Love them so! Fingers and Toes crossed for 2021!

The Yeti artender...on Hiatus
Hey, for the small majority of you that are loving The Yeti Bartender, it’s going to be on hiatus for a few weeks. Summer weather has given me a reprieve and I just want to spend it outside drinking a cold seltzer instead of concocting and trying to come up with new cocktail recipes. Don’t worry, it will probably be back this Fall as I can think of a few colder weather month cocktails that you just might love!

Memes
These trying times are far from perfect, but at least all the Memes have given some laughs and smiles.

and My FAV

....And then Something Sweet happens
 THE BLUE HERON
This beautiful bird comes to the pond every year and while I’ve gotten some good pictures of him, the perfect shot just seems to allude me. I was taking video and pictures of him on the step railing the other morning and just kept snapping. Just when I thought I would never get a perfect shot of him, boom there it is. This is just to tell you that when things don’t go perfectly, then you turn around and sometimes they do. Never give up. No matter how many sad things happen in life, there’s so much joy! It’s all around us!

CHEERS to a Perfectly imperfect weekend!!

LOSING DAISY

With tear stained eyes and a body with no tears left to cry, I’m going to get through this the best I can about the loss of our precious pup, Daisy Mae! On Wednesday, July 31, our sweet little “sis” as we often called her, went to be with the Angels. I truly have so much to say about it but I’m having a hard time getting the words out so I will share with you what my heart can right now. Sharing this gives me some solace.

First of all, can I say, grief is such a lonely lonely thing! No one grieves the same way and when you feel like you can’t fully express yourself, the loneliness is debilitating. My heart aches that my family is not grieving the same way I am, but again, I live in a house full of men and I guess it’s just what they have to do! The boys are all heading back to college and I dread the empty house. Maybe I need to get a job, LOL!

From the time she was a pup, she was the sweetest soul! Never once did she leave her boundaries, always told us what she needed was so quiet and so loving, such a good girl as we always said.

2 months old

4 months old

She was the heart and soul of our family. She was lucky to have us and we were so lucky to have her!

Daisy healed up so many holes in our heart. Some we didn’t even know were still there.

At Grandma's and ready for the 4th of July!!

Daisy loved so many things. She loved her doggy bed, daddy rubbing her belly, she absolutely adored the snow and LOVED to roll around in it! She loved laying in the grass with the wind in her hair. She had favorite treats and she especially loved all kinds of berries and pizza. She loved her brothers, her grandma and her mommy and daddy so much!

Of course she was getting old, but on a vet visit in April, despite having a mouth infection and going on anabiotic‘s, the vet thought that she had quite a lot of time left because she looked so good for her age. We noticed her eating habits had changed just a little bit but we attributed it to old age. We would have to try different foods and find ones that she seem to enjoy. However, that Sunday she stopped eating completely and before bed, let out a cry that I knew was different and I stayed up with her the entire night until I could get her to the vets the next day. She had lost several pounds and after a major blood panel it was determined that she was in 99% kidney failure, the worst they had ever seen. We knew after her major surgery 2 1/2 years ago which thankfully gave us 2 1/2 more wonderful years with her, that her pancreas was also declining but it has wasn’t anything alarming back then. I knew the minute the sweet vet walked back in what the decision would be. However, we didn’t want to tell the kids yet, especially because one of our sons was to have a college summer course final that was very important that Wednesday morning. We knew there was no way he could take this test if he knew and later he told us he was grateful and got an A on the test! Plus, to be honest, I just wanted some time with my sweet girl. So they made her comfortable and we took her home. However, she was never able to sleep the next two nights and I had to hold her in my arms and try and find different ways to get comfortable, all the while giving her syringes of water, anti-nausea and pain medications.
One of our sons was able to capture this photo with my girl an hour before we took her.
I wore blue and yellow because these are two colors dogs can actually see and I wanted her to see her mama!

We sat in the cold room and each held her saying our goodbyes.
Wrapped in pink towel, I held her as the vet slowly helped her slip away. I told her it was a joy to be her mama and we loved her so much. I felt her body go limp and she was gone. We sat with her for a bit as I didn’t want to let her go. Everyone at the vets office was compassionate and caring every step of the way.

Devastated, we returned home and all I wanted to do was go to sleep so I didn’t have to think about it anymore and I was absolutely exhausted from all those hours awake. (79 hours straight) but we noticed there was a very large package on the porch and I saw it was the console table that wasn’t due to arrive until Friday. What makes this special and I believe, a sign from above, is that there was a note attached to it in a plastic bag that said “thank you just wasn’t enough” with a doggy in a dog bed on it. If you knew about Daisy, you know her dog bed was kind of a big deal. And I know it was her saying thank you just wasn’t enough for not only putting her out of her misery but for taking such good care of her all these years.

1st time in "her bed"

Like I said, the vets office was nothing short of extraordinary as we have come to know many of them personally through the years. They called me a week later to pick up her remains. The crematory had found a sweet little wood box with flowers that look like daisies on top and I took the vets office flowers with an arrangement where I found a big yellow Gerbera daisy to thank them for all their comfort and support. They even sent a card with special messages from all the staff about Daisy including the Dr's.
A huge thank you to all my family and friends that have been so sweet and comforting as well, especially my mom, who often took care of her on our trips and is grieving as well. Daisy is now back home with us and that gives me some comfort.

Pets love you even when you don’t love yourself.
Give them every bit of love you can because that’s the only thing they know how to give to us, pure unconditional love and joy!

I know the year's first snowfall will be from
you Sweet Daisy! I Love you!
