Bonjour! And let’s go to the Pub! The Nines are headed to London and Paris! You may recall a couple years ago when I turned 50 and we were unable to do any big trips due to the Vid! I knew I just knew I wanted to get out of dodge this year for my birthday and more than just our normal Chicago getaway. I feel like this is the first year that the pandemic seems to be by the wayside.

Going to be lots of this going on, lol

Isn’t the title picture of Miss Stella Mae in a beret the cutest way to announce this trip! Sweet Grandma Giga will be taking care of her, but there is part of us that wishes she could go across the pond too, lol.

How Stella truly feels about it since she doesn't get to go.

Look at this precious Gift that was such a coincidence from my mom. She had ordered it for me for Valentine's the morning before I called to tell her where we were traveling. She didn't realize it had an Eiffel Tower in the globe part. And look it's as if the bears are Mr. Nine and I and he is presenting me with the trip along with Cherry Blossom (let's just say they are) trees that might be in bloom when we are there!! I LOVE IT!!

(it's so well made and packaged so nicely,
the globe top comes off the mug)

I think between not being able to go the last couple years, everything going on with my dad, when I was sick a few weeks ago and everything with menopause led Mr. Nine to really want to do something special. It’s funny, I think he’s more excited about London and I’m more excited about Paris and there are quotes that are directly kin to that like the one at the bottom and this one:

I’ve heard London is one of the best cities in the entire world, so I am beyond excited! I think I’m probably equally excited about both, but on the morning of my birthday, I get to wake up to a view of the Eiffel tower, which is the ultimate cherry on top! Below is our Hotel.

BEST Views of Eiffel Tower HERE

I’m even excited about the flight itself as will be sitting and hopefully sleeping in recliners. It’s an overnight flight, but I can never sleep on planes.  The first five days will be spent in London. We have found the most wonderful YouTube videos to help us plan our itineraries. A couple of my sweet Blogger friends that have been have helped me as well. On Saturday, we sat down, and we mapped out each day. London is very large, so you want to plan your days according to areas. One of the things I’m super excited about is, we’re going to do two very unusual afternoon tees. And of course, we will be seeing a show in the West End! Along with Kensington Palace, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye, etc. And something I am very excited about is just exploring the various neighborhoods.

Then we will be on the Eurostar to Paris for five more days.  Since it is a different country, we will have to go through customs, and then we plan on being greeted at the most glorious hotel across from the Louvre with the Eiffel Tower view as seen above! Of course, I am so interested in the main attractions, in addition to the Eiffel tower like the Arc de Triomphe, Sainte-Chapelle, Seine River, Musée d’Orsay, Tuileries Garden and The Louve.

This outfit is a strong contender for a London or Paris evening.

Since the fire in 2019, Notre Dame is being rebuilt, so we are very sad we will not get to see that. We are also planning a day trip to the Palace of Versailles and that has me super excited as well. There will also lots of cafés, people, watching, croissants and banquettes eaten. AND MACARONS!!

Some of you may have seen a few hints on Instagram leading up to this.  A macaron and pastry shop called love Le Macaron & French Pastries recently opened in our town and my mom, and I went last week, and boy did that get me excited. (and how lucky are we and Stella to have sweet, stylish Grandma Giga taking care of our girl!)

AND Just look at these clocks. It’s Paris time and my town time.

Of course, I am planning all the outfits like crazy and plan to be a little more refined for London, and a little more flair in Paris. Is packing ever going to be a chore, lol!

In each city, we are going to take time to just wander on one day not stick to the itinerary and see where it finds us!

We pretty much have our itineraries planned, but I would love to hear your thoughts; if you want to go someday, if you have ever been to either or both…what some of your favorites are?

Merci and I LOVE YOU!

  1. Amazing! My friend did this trip this summer with her family. She said there is an app you can get that tells you how far and how long to walk places - I think it's called City Go? You have to try a crepe in France, too! I have not been to London and badly want to go. I think this will be a great time to go!

  2. I am so happy for you my friend! Stella Mae looks fabulous in her beret. Can't wait to see all that you do and experience on your Insta. Yes to this all black look for Paris! Michael and I loved our time there.

  3. I am so excited for your trip! Love your Paris evening outfit! Stella is precious in her beret!

    Jill - Doused in Pink

  4. You will love both places and have so much fun! It's been years since I've been to Paris but I remember how gorgeous Versailles was and of course the architecture. Can't wait to hear all about it!

  5. How exciting! We can't wait to see all of the pictures!

  6. Anonymous27.2.23

I'm so excited for you, my husband and I just came back from Paris and have been many times! Pierre Herme has the best macarons and try Rue de Buci for a little shopping/cafe street off Saint Germain. Shop at Allison and 18 Bliss. La Citrouelle for dinner. And wear sneakers for all the walking, Have a great time! Jeanne

  7. Oh my gosh- SO EXCITING!! Well deserved and yes overdue! Cannot wait to see all of your fashion and all of your adventures XO

  8. Anonymous27.2.23

So happy and excited for you. You will rock both towns!

  9. Good for you - enjoy! We have done this in the past and will do it again in December. In London, if you enjoy theater, check out the TKTS booth in Leicster Square. Great seats to West End shows at a bargain price....we go every night we are in London. Tea at Kensington Palace Orangire is great. In Paris, when you are walking around Notre Dame, check out Berthillon - the BEST ice cream in the world. So much to see - enjoy. My dear husband took me to Paris to celebrate my 50th...on my birthday I was on the Eiffel tower with a glass of champage. Enjoy, enjoy - Paris is ALWAYS a good idea !

  10. Oh I am so excited for you, Andrea! I cannot WAIT to follow along! Y'all are going to have the best time!

  11. Anonymous27.2.23

It’s Missy Q, aka anonymous here. Hope y’all have a blast! I went to Paris 20 years ago and only remember climbing the Eiffel Tower with jet lag. Do not recommend! Can’t wait to follow along on your adventure!

  12. Oh that sounds like so much fun!! I could NOT sleep on our overnight flight to Paris (it was a trip I took in high school with my teacher and classmates and I was so nervous and excited and anxious). While I did love seeing Paris and the Eiffel tower my favorite part of our trip ended up being the country side and all the old chateaux and the Normandy beaches... what can I say I am just not a city girl but a country girl at heart. No matter what you'll have a wonderful time I'm sure.

  13. That's SO exciting. I think you need a whole suitcase for each place (you could have it shipped to your hotel?) because you definitely need the style vibes when you're there.
Have you checked out an food tours. Maybe it's not your thing, but we had the best one in Paris that included those macaroons!!
And that's the way to travel. We want to go abroad one of these days soon, but I don't know if we have enough to include that.

  14. It sounds like a wonderful trip! I am having a hard time getting excited about traveling this year because plane tickets just haven't been what I want them to be. So we will probably stick close to home but we do plan to go to Costa Rica with the kids in the fall.

  15. Anonymous28.2.23

This is so exciting! We are planning a trip to Europe next summer with the kids since they'll both be in h.s.! Brian proposed to be under the Eiffel Tower in Paris and it has been my favorite city ever since! I have not been to London, but we may go there next year. I've been to a few cities in Italy too, which was fun too. I hope you recap the entire trip on here, I'd love to read about it! I totally get that about aging parents... I just found out yesterday my mom may need open heart surgery in the next couple months. It can be so overwhelming! :(

  16. You have a wonderful birthday trip planned. Be prepared for some small spaces. I cannot sleep on a plane as well. Paris is such a romantic city. Lovely crepes and desserts. So many sights to see. London is fun with the underground, Kew Gardens, Windsor Castle and the hotel where they shot "The Rocky Horror show". We saw Mama Mia there and Cats. A high tea is a must! Enjoy your upcoming trip. Stella is a cutie.

  17. OMG!!! This is just so exciting! I cant wait to see all the pictures you get & hear your adventure!

  18. I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Take tons of photos. We have a Le Macaron in our town too. I’ve never been in there.

  19. Anonymous3.3.23

Enjoy. I look forward to seeing all your snaps and stories about your trip. My husband & I went to London and Paris last fall for our 15th wedding anniversary. Also celebrated my birthday on the Seine with the Eiffel Tower lights.

  20. How exciting to have a trip to Europe planned for your birthday. I can't wait to hear all about everything. I know you'll be the best dressed for both places.

  21. This is such an exciting trip!! I absolutely love the cherry blossom globe mug, it's adorable! I hope you both have an absolutely amazing time!! :)

    Make Life Marvelous

  22. Oh, this is so exciting! We went to both Paris and London this past summer (as well as some other places in between) and we had such a great time! Of course we went with our two kids (11 and 13) so our trip may have looked a little different than yours will!!! Our Afternoon Tea at Kensington Palace in London was a definite highlight!
