Whew, what a week but a joyous one for many reasons. The weather
gave us 70’s all week, I potted 15 pots of flowers and some in the ground, pool
is closer to being done, I survived Mr. Nine being on a business trip, Mom retired and
we moved one college boy home yesterday with me driving a big ole' transit van and the other comes home today. Now
let’s get to some favorites.
1. Mr. & Mrs. Nine go to Washington!
With gazillions of poli sci classes under my belt and a certification to teach U.S. Government on my teaching license you’d have thought I’d have made it to our nation’s capital by now but nope neither of us have been so we are so excited to go to Washington D.C. next month. My husband’s company is receiving an award so we’re adding in a couple extra days of site seeing. Any good tips, let me know.

A Blonde's Moment
I visited Washington DC a few years ago and loved it! But the thing that amazed us the most was how small The White House is. On TV it looks much more enormous. I'm excited for you. Have loads of fun!!

ReplyDeleteWow, what a week!! You are going to love DC! We went when the boys were younger and had a great time, did lots of museums and tons of walking. I am so happy both your college boys will be home! Nolan came home Wednesday but leaves again next Wednesday for a trip, boo! I am making that pie this weekend, yay! Love all your cute, causal outfits!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend my friend!
xo,
Kellyann
Ah that's awesome you and Mr. Nine are headed to DC! I still have not been either and would love to get there sooner than later. You look so cozy in the amazon hooded sweatshirt! Have a great weekend Andrea :-)

Have fun in DC! I haven't been since I was a kid, but I think you'll have plenty to keep you busy! I love that hoodie, I have already put it in my cart on Amazon!!! Hooray for one of the boys being home and the other coming home soon. The gang will be back together!!! Have a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat Amazon hoodie is darling. I love DC - you're going to have a great time! Thanks for reminding me about TBB Asks. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so jealous! DC would be so amazing!
ReplyDeleteWe want to take the kids to DC so bad! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing that Amazon floral hoodie on you because I've almost purchased it several times!! We plan on doing a family trip to DC when the kids get a little bigger, I hope you guys have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in DC. I haven't been in years and I'm sure it has changed so much! Have a great time!
ReplyDelete- Shannon @slayitagainshan.com
Shut up...you are a certified teacher?!!! Just when I think I really know you I find out some more little interesting tidbit! I so would love to take the kids to DC...have never been myself either.
ReplyDeleteYay for May! DC is so much fun. We like just walking around and hitting up all of the museums and monuments --they're free! Chinatown is so pretty at night. I have to go back to some of my trip reports and I'll get back to you. You always look so stylish even on your comfy days! I hope the move for College Boy went well. Is your house turned upside down? Ours always was the first week until all of the "stuff" found a place out of my sight. lol! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to Washington. And yes, I would even love to meet the POTUS while I was there and even talk fashion with FLOTUS.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of fashion. I just spent 15 minutes telling my husband about your closet! Haha. I want one like that!!!
Lisa
GAH! I wish I still lived in DC!!! WE would totally meet up. Have so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for this warmer weather - and May! Enjoy your trip to DC.

I've always wanted to go to DC; I keep insisting we must take the boys for a fun and educational week long field trip but it hasn't happened yet. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the shout out! :-) I seriously immediately thought of you when I tried that top on. I can just picture you wearing it!! Love your casual/comfy outfits too. I have also been to D.C. many times and it is a fun city. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this amazing weather!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh oh my gosh! D.C. is one of my favorite places ever (since I used to live there). I have lots of recommendations for you. Would you prefer them in e-mail format? On Slack?
ReplyDelete15 pots of flowers??? I'd love to see you driving that big ol' moving van, Mama!! Say hello to Trump for me!
ReplyDeleteI really like D.C. It's a lot of walking but so pretty! I like that tshirt, but can't swing $49 for a tshirt...any cheaper options? :)
ReplyDeleteWow what a busy week for you! That is going to be great when your boys are home with you. DC is going to be such a nice time! I've only been once for work but it was really cool to see and secret service was everywhere! Sierra~Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteWell you have had QUITE the week, phew, I'm tired reading it all! But it's all good things! DC will be so fun to visit, it's one of our favorite cities! For a fancier and delicious meal try the Occidental Grill at the Willard Hotel. There are always politicians mingling there and the food and hotel are amazing! We also love, love, love the Smithsonian and picnicing on the lawn by the Reflecting Pond!
ReplyDeleteYou will have a great time in DC! Pretty outfits - pretty comfy! Xo
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all have a wonderful trip! B and I went to DC back in 2010 and there was just so much to see and do! Our trip was only a few days so we squeezed in a TON in a small amount of time. Y'all have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of you and Kellyann getting kids home for summer. Katie is staying in Nashville and working this summer. (and I can't blame her) You are going to LOVE DC! Growing up 2 hours from there, it was such an easy day trip and Kent & I would go frequently when we were dating just for fun. You probably already know to contact your Congressman/Senator for tickets to White House, Capitol, Washington Mon, Fed Bureau of Engraving and I'm not sure what all else. So fun! Some of those I've still never done and want to at some point. Happy Friday sweet friend! XO
ReplyDeleteI have a hoodie like that from Mindy Mae's Market. So cute. Have sooo much fun in Washington. It is a great place. Amazing food and the sights are soooo cool. I love walking through history. Have the best time!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all have the best trip to DC, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun in D.C.! I am loving that pineapple top! Can't wait to see how it looks on you!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip to DC. The outfits looks great! Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty
ReplyDeleteYay for a trip to DC! I haven't been since I was mayyyybe 5 years old - have a BLAST.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to D.C. once, and that was when I was in high school, but it's such a fun city to visit!
ReplyDeleteHooray for a trip to DC! Y’all are going to have so much fun! Just make sure to bring your walking shoes because with all the monuments, memorials, and museums you’ll walk a ton!
ReplyDeleteWashington!!! How exciting! You are looking fabulous in your white jeans :) I will have to check out that NYX lip stuff. I forever am in need of more lippie things :) Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou are one heckuva package, great blog writer, fantastic cook, fashionista, and now political guru to add to the long list. Oh and cute as a button pretty too ! You must have turned heads, a casually dressed yet gorgeous vision filling up her transit van at the petrol station! Enjoy Washington. Hugs my pretty, x.
ReplyDeleteLove everything pineapple! Looking forward to the link-up on Monday! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Washington DC twice and would love to go back. You will have such a great time. I use to dread when our kids moved home for the summer because of all the STUFF. It seemed to have multiplied during the school year. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have lived here in the DC area for 35 years. Love this city! Best advice I can give is take the hop on hop off tours. The museums, monuments and government buildings are farther apart than you think plus they take you to Arlington National Cemetary. Two of my favorite restaurants are Jaleo (Spanish) and Zaytinya(Mediterranean).Have loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteI've ben to DC twice as a child and I loved it. My tip- visit Georgetown Cupcake ;) I LOVE that pineapple top, LUSH makes some great tops! Hope your weekend is going great, xo!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all the pretty flowers you potted and I can just picture you driving the big ole van! LOL Sounds like a fun trip lined up with the Mr. and I had no clue you had all those certifications. Sounds like the perfect place to explore! Glad you love the NYX lip oil. I thought that color screamed your name and NYX really has some amazing yet affordable lip products. The pineapple top is soo cute! Happy Sunday sweet like a pineapple Andrea! ReplyDeleteCongrats on the garden - that's a lot of planting! Love these any-day looks, and I hope your trip to DC is FANtastic! See the Smithsonian American History Museum if you can. xox

I'm so excited for your trip!!! I've been there once, BUT, it was literally right after 9/11 and I couldn't really get close to anything so I've been wanting to go back. Also loving this Kohl's sweater...so cute on you:)

Love the distressed jeans and white top. The hoodie is cute, too. I've never thought to look at clothes on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Washington but we weren't there long enough to do much. Pick up a brochure at the airport and plan to do things you have an interest in. Also, I always go to the website Top10 to search for the best restaurants. You can do that while sitting in the airport, too. Have fun!

I cannot believe you haven't been to DC! I highly recommend Free Tours by foot, specifically this one. https://freetoursbyfoot.com/washington-dc-tours/walking-tours/all-in-one/ Old Town Alexandria is so adorable, the zoo is great and I love the Georgetown area. I had not one, but two boyfriends that moved from here to there while I was dating them.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing. Thanks for sharing this article.
