FRIDAY FAVORITES SEDONA ARIZONA EDITION

It went something like this. I cannot wait to lay by the pool and wear all my sundresses and tank tops! To: “Honey, we need to find an outdoor store and buy a beanie and gloves. I’m glad I brought a winter coat and how is it colder in Arizona than it is in Indiana?”

That’s right, my friends, it seems like every time Mr. Nine and I go on a Spring trip, the state/country has something unseasonable happening. Remember Paris? Pretty much the same with Sedona, temperatures 30° under normal and snow on April 2, my birthday! There was no pool time, there was no sundresses alone unless it was for a quick pic before I threw a coat over, but the temperatures were perfect for us to hike. And that’s how we roll, we always find a silver lining and despite wanting warmth, our hearts sure were warmed to Sedona and the wonderful time we had. So much goodness to share about Sedona here for Friday favorites!

First off, I had to laugh, the left is what I should’ve been wearing/using most often to the right of what I actually wore most! Lol.

Ambiente

Hands down, the best customer service ever in the history of vacation stays! Such a unique place. Just 2 years old, Ambiente Sedona, developed by a sweet family, you stay in one of 41 individual atriums! Just gorgeous! They cater to your every whim, the grounds are stunning, there are star gazing beds and fire outs on the roof and there is a trail head right by the resort! They also will take you anywhere in town you need to go! Too many awesome things to mention so I will say just book it!

Of course, arrival champagne!

The tub needed non slip things, lol, I slipped right under the wood shelf. HA!

The Food

Mr. Nine and I have been on many vacations where the food is not always amazing. Maybe you’ll have a great meal, and then the next one is terrible but here, ever.single.meal was out of this world! Ranking our top 3 in order and linking to them for you. All 3 a MUST in Sedona!

1. Elote Cafe

2. Dahl and Di Luca

3. Forty1

Skillet Corn Cake with Dulce de Leche and Homemade Vanilla Ice cream
and sweet corn kernels..oh my

Grand Canyon

We planned a day trip to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The drive itself is worth it (about 2hrs) and we even hit a white out.

It was cold but wow, how majestic and cool to see. Oh but had a pit stop at a tire place for a patch as a screw got in the tire of our rental. Have you been?

Hikes

We love to hike. Before the sleet and snow came in on my birthday we got in a beautiful hike on the Adobe Jack trailhead by our resort. Look at those views!

We even did a Sunrise Hike

But our favorite was the hike to Devil’s Bridge. WOW! Now this is an intermediate trail and the last part up to the bridge is basically rock climbing, so the end is challenging but soooo worth it (I didn’t know ahead of time that 2 ladies in their 50’s had fallen to their death there). Anywho we made it, but I was so scared to go out on the bridge. It looked frightening. BUT after I accomplished that hike, I HAD too! A sweet lady was taking everyone’s photo out there as her daughter was behind us in the line to go out there.

Little did we know she had taken video too and we were so grateful! AMAZING VIEWS!

Incredible! Fear Conquered!

What I Wore

Took off my coat long enough for quick photos and the green, my favorite, was my birthday night dress.

Time with Mr. Nine

Even though we see each other every day, I feel like we had not gotten as much quality time together lately! This trip was that sweet time we needed and Mr. Nine is the magic that makes these trips possible.

We LOVE to Cheers!!

Hummingbird Story

My mama and I love hummingbirds especially because they remind us of my grandma as she always had so many and adored them. The weather was bleak, but we were walking back on the path on my birthday and lo and behold, a hummingbird flew from a juniper tree in front of us to another tree. We never saw one again. I believe it was my grandma saying Happy Birthday!

Extra precious was our arrival him. My mama had dropped off Stella and left not only, gifts, a balloon and tulips but also my annual key lime pie (recipe ) and a pop-up Hummingbird card!

Sedona, we will be back!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND!!

  7. What an amazing trip! I think of hummingbirds and Arizona too. I can never get over having one land on the nectar ring! (In my Phoenix trip). You two always make the best of everything. I love hiking too. My palms were getting sweating at that photo of you on the bridge though! Good for you conquering your fear! Love your birthday dress!!

I am so happy that despite the weather there, you still enjoyed Sedona! I would definitely go back there and stay at Ambiente instead of Enchantment. It looks spectacular. I also need to make it to the Grand Canyon. Anyway! Good for you for conquering your fear! Your photos are amazing, and you look stunning in both of those dresses. Your hummingbird story is also very sweet. Have a glorious weekend, my friend!

I loved Sedona, but we just took a bus there from Scottsdale, road the Pink Jeeps, did a little shopping and bussed back! So, I was only there for a half way. But, the red rocks are so pretty! I can't believe you got cold weather and SNOW?!! Unreal. But, you sure had some really, really pretty dresses and the food looks delicious!! Food is one of my favorite things on a trip!!! Ha ha!

  21. That's crazy about the weather! That happened to us once in the Florida Keys, we were NOT prepared at all for it to be so cold. That hotel is absolutely stunning and all that food sounds amazing. Happy belated birthday sweet friend <3

  22. Sorry it was so cold for your birthday! I was in the same boat when we were in Nashville... we usually like our spring break trips to be warm, but this one was not! It looks like y'all had a great time anyway, though!

  23. What a nice get away for the two of you. When I visited Arizona, it was also in April and the weather did not lend itself to any pool time or sundress wearing! It gets cold in the desert!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Brr! It is always surprising how cold the desert can be. Those views are amazing and I am glad you all got time away from the house. It does feel different and purposeful and needed!
