THE THING ABOUT WIND & LAKE MICHIGAN

Always a relaxing time in our home away from home up north on Lake Michigan. Little backstory. As I’ve shared with you many times before, Mr. Nine and the boys and I have been going yearly to this town for years and years. My mom has never come along because she’s always been the one to take care of our sweet Daisy. This trip was planned before Daisy's Passing but Mr. Nine thought it was due time to get my mom up to see the town that we so dearly love. So, we spent four days there a couple weeks ago.

Northern Michigan, especially on the lake, is absolutely beautiful and I love that our condo overlooks it. The only negative thing about up there, is that the weather is even more unpredictable than it is in Indiana. Luckily, mom and I did get one fabulous beach day but wind put a damper on some of our time there for outdoor activities. Nobody wants sand in their eyes or getting knocked off the pier, lol! We always make the most of it but, instead of talking about all the things we did on our trip exclusively in this post, I want to talk a little bit about wind!

As many of you know I really despise wind, there isn’t anything good about it! However, for this post I decided to do a complete 180 and use wind as a positive metaphor in relation to how I feel about my mom.
Isn't she so CUTE!

She truly is the wind beneath my wings. She’s the kind of person you truly want in your corner. She will lift you up, laugh with you and cry with you. She blows in with such a sweet presence, stylish presence and oh so fun presence. You think I’m fun? My mama is way more fun; the life of the party and the laugh til it hurts kind of fun. she is game for anything!

I am lucky for trips like these and I count my blessings every day. Lucky to be able to not only call on her for anything, but to call her mom. It’s an honor to be her daughter. This sweet little breeze of sunshine will brighten your day just like she has so many of mine. Be that kind of light and be the wind to lift up others. And Life is short, eat yummy things like Chocolate with one another!

Unique little European Chocolate shop in a town of less than 200.

Our Favorite Breakfast, so fun to split..the BEST Eggs Benedict and French Toast with Vanilla Mascarpone and Berry compote.

At the Roadhouse, The BEST Margarita's, Queso and Mexican food!

Of course, on our last morning, the winds became calm. But on our last walk out on the pier, the seagulls flew and reminded me, with people loving you like my mom, wind or no wind, you really can soar!

My sweet friends, may the wind be at your back to help you blow through this day with ease.

I hear Michigan has some really beautiful parts. My sister was saying how she would love us to go one summer. Now I feel like we need to plan something and take our mom, too.
