THE MASTER BEDROOM

While we have lived in our new home over a year now, there are still some rooms in the house that are just not exactly the way I want them yet. Taking my sweet time to get it decorated just right. One of those is the master bedroom. Getting new master bedroom furniture just wasn’t high on our list at the time with all the other things we wanted for the house. It’s still on our list but we have not found exactly what we want. I want very light-colored furniture and as you can see, ours is dark. Our bedroom is very calming and very sweet but I can’t wait to show you the after picture when we finally find the right bedroom furniture.
And as you know, I have a very glam, girly space upstairs with an office, craft and chill space, so I wanted to make sure this wasn't as feminine for my macho Mr. Nine. But if I could put pink and bling in here, I would, lol.

Bedding is one of the most difficult things to find for me. I absolutely adored our last master bedding set but we did decide to get something new in that area and I am extremely picky and to be honest, there are not that many drop-dead gorgeous bedroom sets out there. One collection I do love is the Hotel Collection from Macys. Everything is very nicely made and stands the test of time as our last master bedding set lasted eight years. Throwing on a Chunky Blanket is always a good idea and they come in so many colors!

I knew I wanted our bedroom to consist of grays, soft blues and champagne and this sweet plaid comforter and matching pieces fit the bill. It's called Modern Plaid from the Hotel Collection and all the items are available and on sale...details below. And I especially love the pillows that came with it. This collection can be pricey but is often on sale and the investment is soooo worth it because the pieces stand the test of time and are so luxurious!

You may remember when I found this sweet Accent Chair from Wayfair a few months back. The metallic shimmer crinkle curtains are from our old house and were in my office there, they match the color of the accent wall so they are working for now.

One thing we added after the fact was the sliding barn type door. It separates the bedroom from the closets and master bath, and I love how it turned out, a little bit more modern to match our doors and I love the chunky handle.

The LIGHT is probably my favorite thing in the entire room and it came from, of all places, Amazon! Our sweet electrician had to physically attach every single one of those little dangly balls. It casts such a cool shimmer on the wall and ceiling and I love it. What I also love is that we have darkening blinds and that our bedroom is very peaceful, we also keep it a cool 67° for sleeping.

  1. Love your barn door, your panel wall, your chunky blanket, your disco-lit bedroom. No surprise really cos I love YOU!
Know what you mean about keeping a shared bedroom neutral though, it's easy to get carried away with the girliness!

  3. That light fixture is my favorite too! It is so elegant and glamorous, I just love anything with a dangling crystal feature. Your room sounds like the perfect place to rest and relax, cool and dark with those blinds must make peaceful sleeping a breeze!

  4. That wall behind your bed is beautiful and I love all the gray tones. That is one of my favorite colors. That light fixture is super fun too! Getting new bedroom furniture is on our list too, but I don't enjoy shopping for stuff like that. It's hard to find what I want and harder to pull the trigger on spending the money ;-) Have a marvelous Monday!

  6. Love your little love nest! Our bedroom furniture is similar because we have the dark wood, too. I laughed about Mr. Nine probably not liking a little pink and bling in your bedroom! Thank goodness for your girly room upstairs, right? Beautiful bedroom, Babe! Happy Monday!

  10. I knew that light would be your favorite thing in there! Hahaha . I love those colors for the Master bedroom. I try to keep ours “not so girly” too. So I stay away from any florals or pinks. But the way our Master bedroom looks, its obvious than some men could care less what it looks like, Mine is pretty drab and nothing to show off. When my daughter moved out, we kept “her” room for her. But, I told my husband that it was MY project, so it’s the most glamorous and put together room in the house.

  14. Love your bedding set! I hear you on needing slightly more macho decor in that space. :) I think it look great with the dark furniture but I know you have quite an eye for decorating so I'm sure your light furniture will look great too. Also, that sliding door to the bathroom/closet area is genius. I don't know why almost all houses have that open. It's so frustrating when one person wants to sleep and the other is fussing around in the bathroom!

I adore that light....the only reason we don't have a cute one like that is because we need a fan in the summers....ugh!!

I have dark furniture too; but I’m not in a hurry to replace it. We need a new headboard since we upgraded from queen to king. It’s been like 2 years without a headboard, oops.

  45. It looks so good! Such a great mix of feminine and masculine. I know I said it before but I love your Chandelier! And the accent chair is perfect. Bedding has been one of the most difficult for me too. I really don't like the one that we got and it was more so just on a whim because we needed something. I've actually been on the hunt for the last 2 weeks trying to find a new duvet cover. Still no luck but I'm hopeful. I'll have to check out Macy's collection! Sierra Beautifully Candid
