In September, I was so enthralled with all the pumpkin recipes that I forgot about my other favorite healthy treat, the Apple! I have been asking people for weeks what I should make with apples. Last month, I came up with the Caramel Apple Cookies that I am still thinking about and I'm probably going to be making another batch of very soon. As for this yumminess, I originally was going to post some pumpkin cinnamon rolls but I decided; no let's change it up a little bit and make some decadent apple cinnamon rolls with a yummy cream cheese frosting! So these "In Honor of Apple Season" Apple cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting were born!
Yum
If you're looking for a yummy homemade pumpkin cinnamon roll head over to Rachel's blog as those were very close to the ones I was going to make and Rachel's look soooo delicious!!
I am not a yeast-y girl, nope, do not like to bake with yeast. SOOOO the good news:
NO YEAST in these delicious cinnamon tolls, I repeat, NO YEAST!!!
NO YEAST in these delicious cinnamon tolls, I repeat, NO YEAST!!!
Apple Cinnamon Rolls Makes 9 rolls
Ingredients
1 pkg crescent rolls dough sheet
2 Tbsp butter, softened...optional
1/3 cup Apple Butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 small Apple, grated
Cinnamon to sprinkle
Icing
1/2 brick cream cheese
1 Tbsp Apple Juice
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On a sheet of waxed or parchment paper, Unroll the crescent dough/sheet and if desired, spread with butter. Next, spread the Apple butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. Top evenly with grated Apple and sprinkle with desired cinnamon. Roll up the dough, then I like to place it in the fridge for about 20 minutes before slicing. Take out of fridge, score in 9 pieces, then slice with either a very sharp knife or with unflavored dental floss. Assemble in an 8x8 dish. Bake for 18-20 minutes until rolls are golden brown. While the rolls are baking make the icing by mixing the cream cheese with a mixer in a medium bowl, add the Apple juice and vanilla and beat again. Add powdered sugar and beat til smooth. If not as thick as you'd like, you can add more powdered sugar. Spread on warm rolls. Enjoy!
The roll with all the goodness slathered on.
Tying Off the rolls with dental floss..nice clean cut.

Love the idea of adding apples to the cinnamon rolls, Andrea! And thanks for sharing my pumpkin roll recipe! The crescent roll dough is SO much better than using yeast -- I do not like working with it either! Have a great Tuesday!!

These look so gooey and yummy! I do love apple and we still have a few leftover from our trip to the orchard... I might have to try these!
ReplyDeleteThese look so good! And the dental floss, great idea! Although all of our dental floss is mint flavor...does that mean it would have a hint of mint...hehe. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally need to make these! My husband loves apple pie, so I know that he would die over these for breakfast!
ReplyDeleteThose look so so good!
ReplyDeleteYum!!! My least favorite part of making any type of cinnamon roll, is cutting it! I always smash it too much. I love the dental floss idea. My mother-in-law always cuts sheet cakes with floss, but I never thought to do that with cinnamon rolls. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteYum! I'd love to just eat the frosting :)
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious and so easy!
