Was pretty excited when I saw the topic of Momfessionals Let's Talk Series was Hair and Make-Up. While I'm all over fashion, Pin hair styles on Pinterest and eat up the Sephora sales every year, I have never done a post on Hair and Make-Up. Time to change that. So Today Let's talk about my Daily Make-up routine, My favorite Hairstyles And a HUGE Proclamation.
No sense in keeping you in suspense but for those of you that do to know, I have been coloring my own hair since I was 18!!! Yes indeed, box color all the way but the other big reveal. I CUT MY OWN HAIR too!! How does she get it even you say?? I guess, years of practice.
My mom has colored her hair she was in high school and well I never did do that when I was in high school and my hair was a few shades darker, but when I was 18, the Summer before college, I put a bunch of "Sun-In" on my hair and it turned orange! So it was time, Nice and Easy became my best friend every six weeks! But the past decade or so I branched out other hair colors and these are my favorites.
My Summer Shades
Fall and Winter Shades
My Life-Saver when after coloring there are too many brassy tones, reds or oranges.
Make-up is fun but very routine for me. Growing up, I was allowed to wear eye shadow first, then as a freshman, branched to foundation, and blush. For as long as I can remember I wore a foundation by Max Factor but they stopped making years ago. I am one of those people who tries to stick to the same dedicated make up brands and when I branch out and find a new one I love, I stock pile it.. A deep bottom bathroom drawer is full of nothing but a stash of my favorite products.
I have mentioned my Favorite Eye Products before but here is the entire daily make-up spread. I am a mix of high end and drug store products.
I always start with the eyes....
From the top, I start with Cover Girl Liner Perfect Point Plus in Oynx, Go over that liner with Almay Liquid Liner in Black, then if doing a slight cat eye, I use blinc fine liner. I follow with Maybelline eye quad in Designer chocolates using only the top 3 colors. In the corner of each lid goes a dark shade either from the CG quad, using #4 purple or the MAC "All that Glitters." My Holy Grail of make-up tools is my Maybelline eyelash curler. And I top with an even mix of Maybelline Great Lash and Make Up Forever Mascara, both in Blackest Black.
Another BIG Revelation.....so I paid the $52 for the Naked Decay palette and I LOVE the colors but I hardly ever use it, nope, cannot stand the applicator and always say "I'm saving it for good", lol.
Next, the Face...
Face Products from top left, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation Intensity 3.0 Mixed with Cover Girl foundation in 750 Medium Beige over the Smashbox Primer and Covergirl Concealer in Medium. I follow with a brush of Cover Girl loose powder in Medium Translucent, then Physicians Formula Bronzer in Sunlight, Followed by Nars Blush in Orgasm.
And the lips.....
I did do a post on Favorite Lip Products as well....
if going out or work..I wear all, if not or just errands, just lipgloss
The Shinylicious/Shinesensational lip glosses from Maybelline are no longer available and I am almost out of my stock and I need a good replacement...Any suggestions for a great stay on gloss?
I use a Jordana lip liner in cabarnet from Wal-Greens (Only place I can find it & $1.29) then top that with Mary Kay lipstick in "Raisinberry" and often follow with MAC's "Rebel"
My top two favorite brushes: Arbonne, which I use for my bronzers & Eco tool Blush brush
How bout you, got any hair and make-up revelation or super favorite products to share?
Go be your beautiful selves and Have a Fantastic start to your week!!!

You have me considering coloring my own hair! I'm thinking of all the time and money I'd save. Hmmmm....maybe, just maybe I'll bite the bullet. On another note I made you chicken Eugene yesterday and the cheesy potatoes - so. good.! My 18 year old son said, "this is so good, I can feel my arteries clogging!" Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt does not even surprise me thou cut and color your own hair and look that fantastic. You are truly wonder woman my beautiful and talented friend! Happy Monday! XO - Kim

I'm super impressed that you cut and color your own hair!! I remember Max Factor makeup and I used to have pretty much every color of that Maybelline lip gloss. If you are looking for an inexpensive lip gloss, that Jordana lip gloss pencil is pretty good. If you want something better, I try the NARS Velvet lip gloss or the satin lip pencil. Thanks for sharing and you always look beautiful! Hope that you had a fab weekend too!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you cut your own hair!!! I'm so impressed! And, I'm foundation shopping...I had switched in the early winter and found one I LOVED, but now that the weather is changing, I don't like it. Might have to give yours a try:)
ReplyDeleteLove seeing all the pictures of your beautiful locks...bottle blonde ;) We should all have our graphic tees for our meet up...
ReplyDeleteWhoa nelly, you cut and color your own hair? Mind ---> blown!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you cut and color your own hair! So impressed. I always use a purple shampoo because I hate brassy tones too.

Wow, I'm so impressed that you color your own hair and cut it! It looks so great, so awesome job! Also, I definitely remember the days of sun-in and it turned my hair orange as well when I was 13-haha At least we learned from it ;)
ReplyDeleteI never would have guessed you color and cut your own hair! Gorgeous lady! I have the Nake Palatte and love it, but don't use their applicator, I but a bunch of brushes once from a whole sale group and use those instead, love them! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all of these amazing products & can't believe you cut & colour your own hair!! You do an amazing job pretty lady! That last quote killed me laughing as I totally feel the same way...don't touch the hair!!

Good for you!! Doing your own hair must save SO MUCH time and money. I tried dying my hair by myself once in college and it turned SO orangey. EeeK! So i'm afraid to try again.
ReplyDeleteAndrea, how amazing is this post! I can't believe how dye your own hair - that's so amazing! You definitely save a ton of money! I need to check out the brass banisher! Perhaps I will start dyeing my own hair! :) You are flawless and I love ya tons!

Oh my gosh! I cannot believe you cut and color your own hair! I am beyond impressed! You always look so fabulous. I could never cut my own hair. I did a number on my bangs when I was in college -- I guess I loved the scissors a little too much haha! Happy Monday!

okay you amaze me!! Color AND cut your own hair?! AND look that freaking fantastic. Seriously... I'm impressed. Teach me all the things!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so impressed that you cut and color your own hair--it looks great! My mom is a retired hairstylist, and she told me enough horror stories of hair she had to fix after people tried to color at home that it scared me off from ever trying! I love seeing your makeup faves too. I definitely have my routine for makeup but also love trying new things so I may have to check some of these out!
ReplyDeleteWell you always look gorgeous so you're doing everything right! I would be so afraid to cut my own hair! I need to have a makeup lesson from you because your always looks flawless.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you can cut your own hair! That is impressive

I tend to have my favorite products and stick to those as well! After this past Sephora sale though, I think that I might have realized that I have an addiction to moisturizers though!
ReplyDeleteEstee Lauder and Lancome make my top favorite foundations!!! I need to find a drug store foundation that I like. I really like seeing what everyone uses in their regular routine. The Naked palette is one of my go tos as well!
ReplyDeleteI did not know you dyed and cut your own hair!! You do a great job! Wow! I wish I could do both... I would save a ton of money! LOL! I get highlights (and sometimes low lights) every 8 weeks and a cut every other time and it is not cheap. Also, thanks for sharing all of your favorite products!! I am so bummed I didn't get in on the last Sephora sale!

Your hair color and styles look fabulous so you've defintiely mastered the art. I use the same eco tools brush that is inexpensive and love how it works. I also do the same thing with my Naked Palettes 1 and 3....I say I'm saying it for good but forget to use it....The original Naked Palette but I really don't like a lot of colors in the 3rd one.
ReplyDeleteYou cut your own hair too?! You are super woman! I have been tempted to give myself a trim a few times, but am sure I would end up with a mess to fix!
ReplyDeleteI love this and seeing another part of you and what's behind the scenes of you. I have been wanting to do a post like this and you have so encouraged me to step out and try it.
ReplyDeleteYou do such on awesome job on your hair! My mom let me start dyeing my hair when I was 16, and I've loved playing with hair color ever since :)
ReplyDeleteI love love love your hair, it's so beautiful and suits you so well! At first I rarely used my UD Naked palette but got some different brushes and I really love it now! You're so beautiful friend!
ReplyDeleteI cut everyone's hair but my own! We discovered Madison Reed at BAM. Check them out! I was impressed. When I pull the trigger and start coloring my hair, that's what I'm going to use. Your makeup routine is a lot more complicated than mine! Phew! But I only recently started wearing it...

Come cut and color my hair! Haha!! I would have never known! You do SO good and always look amazing and beautiful!

Your hairstyles are so cute! My daughter recently brought home that MAC lipstick you have, and wow, it smells great and goes on so smoothly. I need to get some for myself.
ReplyDeleteI *love* all apricot shades. ;)
ReplyDeleteIntrigued by the quad you use as those are my go-to shades! I'll have to check out your eye liner pencil also since it clearly does a great job on that pretty face ;)
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of your hair skills! Since my second daughter, my hair is so much darker and I had an ORANGE experience when I went to dye it myself!! Love getting s sneak peek inside your routine.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post! I love Maybelline and Clinique. I pretty much use whatever eyeshadow is available at the drugstore or that comes in my freebies bag from Clinique.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I liked best about this post? That your makeup is real. It isn't shiny, just out of the package but your lip gloss in the tube is slightly flattened, and your Cover Girl concealer is slightly scuffed. This is really what you use, straight from your makeup bag. And these products are certainly working because you are just lovely in every picture and every post.
ReplyDeleteVery informational content this is very unique. Thanks!
