POOL DREAMS

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Instead of swimming and sipping this past weekend, it was the simple; Subway, Sam's Club and Snugglin' watching movies. Kids, it was SIZZLING in the ole' Midwest this past weekend!

My number one favorite thing to do in the whole wide world is float around on a raft in a pool with the frozen concoction. With a heat index of 107 degrees this past weekend, I needed both the pool and the concoctions!!

When I was in eighth grade, my dad put an in-ground pool in our backyard! Best investment ever! I have the most wonderful memories by the pool; laying out the sun with my friends and mom, teaching my mom how to swim, my dad straddling a blow-up alligator, a nighttime party gone a little too far with shaving cream in the pool, strawberry daiquiris, where we girls took all our "before going out pictures", and numerous, numerous get togethers poolside including graduation open houses, birthdays and every other excuse for a party.....

Our pool circa 1989. Me in the middle. How awesome are those neon bikinis???

Posing Poolside 1990

So when my husband and I lost out on a bid war for our dream house, he gave me the thumbs up to just go ahead and put a pool in our backyard! Imagine my excitement!? Until…… The pool installer dashed my dreams! You see, when you decide to put a pool in, the first thing the installer does is go to the health department to see if it would interfere with the septic. Well, wouldn't you know it, our "stinking" septic (Ha Ha) has these long fingers across the backyard where we wanted to put our pool.
Sad girl here!

My family are fishies too!
My sweet husband has promised me that some day my dreams will come true! Whether it be a pool, a house on a lake or both, one day, this girl's dream of a life, once again by water, will become of reality.

That's the neat thing about dreams, sometimes they get dashed, but the hope that they may be become a reality is a really beautiful thing.

Yeah, while we're dreaming...can it have a swim up bar too??

What's your favorite activity to do in the whole wide world? I would love to hear about it!
xoxo

  5. I LOVE those pictures of you! It is always so fun looking through peoples photos of them growing up, especially when you see trends that are now back again haha! My parents have an inground pool so growing up I always got away with having people over all winter because they knew once it got warm I'd invite them over for the day.

    1. I do love trends revisited! Must be why I hold on to too many clothing items, thinking they'll come in style again. Lol. I do admit, I no longer have that neon bikini. Ha! Happy Monday to you too beautiful!!!

  7. Right before we got married, we bought a 3 bed, 2 bath house. Perfect for us right now but I keep reminding David that this isn't our forever home. And that he needs to become a principal so that my {I mean our ;) } forever home can have a pool in the backyard. You're probably a little bit closer to getting yours! I love your throwback pictures!

  9. Haha those neon bikinis are so back in right now!!! Funny how everything comes back, isn't it?? A pool in the backyard would be the most awesome thing! I looked at at few houses online last week that are for sale with a pool. A girl can dream. I totally feel your pain on the heat and longing for poolside days! Chris's family has a condo at Gulf Shores, but one day it would be nice to have our own...or a vacation home of our own somewhere!

I love the picture from 1990! I was born in 1988, but I still remember the early to mid- 2000s years, when people were not so dependent on cell phones and there was no social media. I wish it was still like that.

  20. You’ve got a great tan going on! I’m super jealous. That swim up bar in the last couple of photos is a definite must – what’s the point of being in the water if you don’t get the chance to enjoy a cocktail or two? I hope things do work out for you in the future, and you get the pool you always wanted!
