BACK TO SCHOOL...9 Essentials

I have that feeling. You know the feeling where I MUST look at binders, markers, post-it's, and Ticonderoga pencils!!! Oh my. Whether it's the teacher in me, the stationary obsessed freak or oh yeah, the mom; the sight of neatly lined up folders and notebooks on store shelves makes me so happy!!!

All our boys need at this point in College Stuff and the last high schooler: paper, folders, binders, pens and pencils....BORING. Ha! They do not want to decorate their lockers. They do not want chevron folders or strawberry scented pencils....."only plain colors, mom." I crave girly stuff too!

Even if you do not have kids or your kids are too little ..or big for back to school shopping, I'll bet a lot of you can either relate to some of these or too have a love for all things Back To School.

So to indulge the inner stylin studious girl in me, I've got some fun back to school essentials for you all. How did that tassel pencil case get into my cart?

1. BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING DAY
During my school days, my second favorite day of the year next to Christmas was the day in August when my mom and I would leave the house at 8am and go to the "Big Mall" an hour away for back to school shopping. We'd have lunch and literally not get home until 9 o"clock at night. I would spread out all my goodies on my bed and decide which outfit I was wearing on the first day.

In the 80's the look was a little different, but this was about the amount of loot I'd bring home.
My Fall 2015 forecast: Crimson, Merlot colors will be HOT!! And lots of plaid

2. WATER BOTTLE
Let's face it, in order to stay hydrated and at your best learning potential, we need water!! Most schools let the kids have a water bottle. If they don't, shame on them. My favorite are by CamelBak as they do not sweat. Etsy has these cute monogrammed decals to put on them. Look, a bottle for each day of the week.

3. CUTE PENCIL CASE
I about died when I saw this pencil case in Target. Tassels on a pencil case! Brilliant. I am sure I can find some use for this or the leopard one below. In high school, I kept candy in mine!

4. FAKE GLASSES
Guilty as charged. I thought my big red rimmed glasses made me look "cool". Now the joke is on me as I am in a desperate need of REAL glasses. I went through a phase as a junior in High School where I wore these exact red glasses I have on here for about 3 weeks. Our oldest actually wears glasses and our youngest may soon so I tend to think they are just cute as a button. I have no problem with people wearing them whether they need them or not.

5. DAY PLANNER
It doesn't matter who you are, if you are an organized person like me, you LOVE a good day or monthly planner. How cute is this Lilly one? I have always encouraged my boys to carry a day planner and I must admit, they are pretty organized. Win for mama!!

6. TOTE BAG
Back in my junior and senior years of high school and then in college, I did not carry a backpack. Rather, I thought it would be more "grown-up" to carry a tote! I must say I am nuts over totes to this day. The one below looked very similar to one I had in college but any big tote will do, especially if it has pockets.

7. LUNCH BOX
My boys eat at school now that they're older. When I was little, I had an oval Holly Hobbie Lunch box that I adored. Just found out it is very rare and worth...um, the price of a pair of "Louboutins!" What???? We do not know what happen to it, darn it. In high school I still packed some and my mom would put the lunch in a white paper bag and being the "cool" mom, she would write little notes to on my friends on it. I take my lunch to work everyday and would probably do the same if still in school. I simply love the look of the traditional tin lunch boxes like this one.

8.NOTE FOLDING TUTORIAL BOOKLET
Sorry, but I am OLD SCHOOL. I actually saved many of y notes from high school. Texting was not even on the radar. Remember all the cools ways to fold notes? So fun passing them and trying not to get caught by the teacher.

9. LOCKER CHANDELIER
OMG, I saved the BEST for last. A what? A locker chandelier. Are you kidding me? I would have died for one of these. What locker decorating girly girl wouldn't LOVE one of these. I want to go back to school just to decorate my locker with one again.

Honestly I LOVED school, I keep my teaching license up to date and I would be a professional student if I could, getting a PHD in something, but my school days are done so I can concentrate in sending boys to college, but a girl can still revel in the
glory of back to school supplies!

Even when the boys no longer have the need for all things Mead, I'm sure I can find use for an owl shaped eraser with a wood stump pencil sharpener!!
