We planned this trip a year ago when we saw a piece on the nightly news about the hydrangeas out on Cape Cod in a town called Chatham! You know we love our flowers and the photos of the hydrangeas had us mesmerized!
My Favorite color of hydrangea
One tip is to fly into Providence, Rhode Island versus Boston. It’s a much smaller airport so we stayed the first night there and then a car service picked us up to take us out to the Cape with a shout out if you’re in the area to Elite Car Service because they were amazing!
We stayed at a little Inn on Chatham called The Old Harbor Inn the couple that host us were just precious and we had a charming little coastal room.
And how about these matching pajamas called Lighthouse Keeper from Printfresh, lol? How perfect to find these since they had not only lighthouses on them hydrangeas as well! Get them HERE & HERE
One thing to note if you ever go out to see the hydrangeas in July is that they have on the cape what’s called the hydrangea festival but it’s not really a festival per se. It’s a garden tour. We thought this was going on all week long during the time we visited, but it was only in certain towns and certain days. We got lucky that our day in Chatham was the morning we were leaving, so we were able to still catch the gardens. But you do not even need to go on the tour to see beautiful hydrangeas all over Cape Cod! Everyone we talked to said they were particularly spectacular this year due to the spring we had.
The day before we left, we took the ferry out to Nantucket! I have to say I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.
Yes, the architecture is charming and the cobblestone Street on the main drag is just precious with great shops, but I think I liked the Cape more! It was so incredibly busy, no wonder people that live there get frustrated with all the tourists coming in. Plus, it rained the afternoon we were there and I can tell you, Nantucket, you need more covered spaces, lol! Everyone was miserable. Vineyard Vines was giving out free ponchos, lol!
house was different and a fav of ours!
The ferry takes about 80 minutes. Hindsight is 2020 but we wish we would’ve got a car and drove out to the outlining areas to see some of the bigger homes and beaches.
Which Shot is your favorite?
One last question of the day, what do you do when people stare excessively? We encountered a lady who would literally not stop staring at us even when you met her gaze so tell me what you do when you get stared at? Lol!
Happy Week to you my Beauties!

Y'all do look darling! I love hydrangeas as well and they are beautiful there! What a great trip y'all had. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous trip my friend! I would kill to see these hydrangeas! Those matching pjs are darling. My tip is to ask her if she needs anything. It makes her aware and is polite at the same time. Lol!

Wow, those hydrangeas are stunning. She must have been admiring how great you and your mum look. I’ve said in the past, take a photo it lasts longer.
ReplyDeleteYou two are the cutest. The hydrangeas look amazing. I love how you get mother daughter trips in. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures!! You and your mom are the cutest. We are going to Cape Cod in September. Your pics got me even more excited.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a nice trip. I have been to the Cape once and to Nantucket once, and we only saw the main area like you, I think!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Cape Cod or Nantucket but i like the architecture and I LOVE the hydrangeas! I will file away your thoughts. I hate riding ferries as they are the worst for motion sickness and I know there's usually a ferry involved in a trip to this area. I'm sure the tourists are frustrating to the locals, but that's true of all tourist towns. I love the strawberry outfit-so cute! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a dream trip! I love the Cape - when my kids were little and we lived in nyc we spent July in Wellfleet every year - it's my favorite lowkey Cape town and still my happy place. I'm sorry you found people rude - I think we're just direct ;) - Example - if someone was rudely staring at me I'd say, I'm sorry, do we know each other? It's so great that you do trips with your mama.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness- you and your mom could not look any prettier in all of your beautiful and fun outfits! I enjoyed reading about your trip. I like it when people give honest information about what they noticed, experienced, etc. as well as their opinion and overall experience of a place. The flowers are amazing! When younger, my school friends and I would tell someone who was staring to take a picture as it lasts longer! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou and your mom both look so pretty in all these gorgeous outfits! The hydrangeas are stunning! The Cape, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are on my bucket list! So happy you had a wonderful trip!

What a fun and beautiful trip! You and your mom are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe close up of the hydrangea was amazing. I love the Cape and it's many many hydrangeas. It made me fall in the love with them! I know what you mean about Nantucket. I'm sorry some people were rude to you lovely ladies! I loved all of your outfits. Chatham is so cute but I love exploring all of the towns.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are phenomenal! What a gorgeous location! And your outfits and your mom's outfits are so adorable! Love it all!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip! I would love to go to both of those places! You and your mom are precious!
ReplyDeletea beautiful trip - what gorgeous flowers too.
ReplyDeleteWe did a family trip in 2016 to the Cape after we spent a few days in Boston. The house that we rented was in Chatham, and it was beautiful. We all had the best time, and I hope to make it back there some day. Anyway! You and your mom are the most adorable and beautiful duo ever! Those hydrangeas are gorgeous, and I am thrilled to hear that you had a nice time too. I've also never been to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard. Thank you for sharing, and I hope that you are having a lovely day so far, my friend! XO, Caroline
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you two just the most precious mother/daughter duo! It looks like y'all had a wonderful time and you got some amazing photos. Oh the stare...it's so awkward. I just busy myself and try to ignore them but its hard when you can feel their steady gaze on you. This happened to me a couple of weekends ago at a restaurant. So weird.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Cape Cod is just beautiful and the hydrangeas are just perfect. It looks like a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteI love yours and your mom's matching pajamas.
What a fabulous trip. Thanks for the tip on flying into Rhode Island. I totally agree that the south and midwest have the friendliest people! I'm putting this on my travel bucket list.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you both had a great vacation cape cod and nantucket. I've never been to either but it is on my bucket list. You both had such pretty outfits and too bad about the lady who would not stop staring at you and your mom!
ReplyDeleteNow I’m missing the Cape. Beautiful my friend.

I grew up going to Chatham each summer! My grandparents had a spot in an RV park there and had their camper set up for the whole season so we used to go up randomly for a week or weekend here and there. I have a painting of a house with blue hydrangeas that she won at the local church and gifted to me. And being a New Englander I can absolutely say "southern" hospitality is not called New England hospitality for a reason; my boys were stunned the first time we went "south" and waitstaff (even at places like Mc Donalds & cashiers at stores like CVS) were oh so sweet. You do not see that up here. So glad you had a great trip. Providence is the airport I pick 95% of the time for my trips since it is so cute and we can get just about anywhere from there. I've only flown out of Boston once in my 40+ years here and that was to go to France.
ReplyDeleteI need to pin this post for a future trip! This looks like a wonderful momma and daughter trip, oh do I wish my mom was more mobile. Oh, the hydrangeas are beautiful as are your outfits... I am sure that lady was staring at you both and thinking how gorgeous you both are!

You and your mom are, oh so, cute!!! What a blessing to have this time together and to share this fun experience! I love all your outfits! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip! You always inspire me to travel more. You and your mother looked beautiful in your outfits. I have never seen such beautiful hydrangeas! Your photos really tell the story of your trip. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful ladies in a beautiful place! What a special trip. You got so many great pictures. So lovely, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteAs a Boston native, who has summered on the cape for generations, I must say that the internet & its influencers have really taken-over Nantucket & have turned it into one giant Instagram post! It is refreshing to see your tradition approach to the cape & the islands, and your honest opinion/reaction to Nantucket. You both look so lovely in your summer wardrobe. I am sorry that you had some rude encounters.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip - and to share it with your Mom - double fun! Went to Chatham years ago and loved it - and, the apartment model we live in now is call the Chatham. Sorry people were rude - but I think that is happening EVERYWHERE. We were recently in Gettysburg, PA. Took a 2 hour bus tour of the battlefield with a licensed battlefield guide. The driver asked before we began to please not talk during the tour. You may think you are whispering but the sound carries and people can't hear the guide. 2 couples would NOT SHUT UP even after being asked multiple times. The guide moved with his microphone to the middle of the bus thinking that would stop them...not. At the first stop the driver had called for a van to take them back to the visitor center and they were "kicked off" the bus. Then everyone could enjoy the tour! Sad that people have little respect. But...just keep smiling and enjoy the kind people you meet!
ReplyDeleteLoved all pics, mainly because I love the gals!!
ReplyDeleteHow funny you say that about the rudeness of people. Then again, I wouldn't want to live in a town that was overrun by tourists in the summer. Then again, they could move, LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and women.
XOXO
