FRIDAY FAVORITES JANUARY FUN

Happy Friday! It is cold here, but I’m not complaining one bit. Although you won't want to stick your tongue out for snowflake like in the above graphic or it may freeze, lol. But I’ll take cozy in January. Is it January? It feels like one big Monday. But we have exciting stuff coming up next week! We are over the moon that our Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be playing for a championship Monday night!

Family

Truly, the only thing that really matters! As I mentioned, I’m going to continue to keep my family somewhat private, but my goodness my pride for them is just so ginormous that I cannot help but share one of my favorite days of the whole year and

that was having everyone together on Christmas Day!

Don’t you just love our matching PJs From Bums and Roses

No worries on guys, I dropped the busy ball and next year, they'll have matching too.

Snow & Dinner Fun

It was such a great weekend to have a son and daughter-in-law home. Not only was it his birthday weekend, but we got snow and Mr. Nine got to get out his new toy and plow the driveway and around the pond. They had “snow” much fun. We had already had plans to have dinner with our daughter-in-law‘s parents, who we adore, on Saturday night before we knew the kids were coming home, so it was super cool to all celebrate together at a great new restaurant in our area!

FESTIVE CHRISTMAS MIMOSAS

I was so excited to make these Christmas Mimosas, and I must admit I drank two in an afternoon. They are just so beautiful and festive and so easy to make. You will WOW your guests.

These new silicone extra-large Ice Cube Tray are the bomb. I remember a few years ago, Mr. Nine’s BFF got him some of the round whiskey familiar glass ice cube molds and I was smitten. These are a whole new level because you can add so many fun things to your cubes. I got mine for six bucks at Kohl’s and I’m starting to see them all over.

Since it’s the 12 days of Christmas, I thought it would be fun to add 12 cranberries to each mold and it was perfect. I used two different juices and that’s what’s awesome you could use one you could use three and you could literally use whatever juices you wanted. I chose apple and cranberry pomegranate, and they were delicious.

The coupe Campagne Glasses are absolutely stunning. I’ve always wanted some of these and these are some of the prettiest I’ve seen from Amazon.

In case you want another festive cocktail recipe, check out the Reindeer Mules that I made HERE!

Christmas Mimosas Recipe

*Cranberries

*Rosemary Sprigs

*2 Juices, I used Apple & Cran-Pomegranate

*Prosecco (or Sparkling Grape Juice for a non-alcoholic version)

Fill your molds with 12 cranberries each. Add equal parts of each juice. Add rosemary sprigs and freeze until set or ready to use. Carefully push out cubes and place in glasses. Pour Prosecco over about 3/4 full and enjoy!

FRIDAY FAVORITES IN THE PINK

Hi loves. Not the best week here and we had to cancel leaf peeking trips on 2 occasions along with a Fall Day with friends tomorrow. All all the yucks, but seeing the girls makes my heart full! I keep plugging on and ALWAYS have some favorites. I hope you do too.

1. Precious Pumpkins

I love my little punkin twin granddaughters to pieces and beyond. They will be 1 month old tomorrow and are doing great!

2. Pink

All the love, for pink always. I heard Barbie Core was on the way out, and while I most likely won’t be dressing head to toe pink, pops of the glorious color will forever be on my radar. AND Let’s not forget it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. Get your Mammograms, do self checks, spread awareness AND be supportive of others! Just look at these darling pieces, all would make great gifts.

3. Pillows & Trees

I love a few cute novelty Christmas pillows tossed here and there but certainly don’t want to pay high dollar for them. I’m loving these options all $10 and under. I have the candy canes and hard candy ones.

 Trees

We bought a new main tree. It was a viral sensation. After losing middle lights in our 2nd Balsam Hill in 6 years, I wanted something different. This brilliant mamma jamma is 9ft tall (comes in 3 sizes), has a phone app with 10 different lighting options, 3,400 glorious lights AND is 75% less at Home Depot than Balsam Hill. I am all about white lights and it has warm white and twinkling white as 2 of the 10 functions. It was delivered in 2 days, requires no fluffing and I’m in Love!

GET IT HERE

Of course, I have a couple new trees too, can’t wait to especially show you the new “candy corner” in the kitchen. 7ft Slim $79 from Walmart HERE

Sneak Peek:

That’s right, I’ve started decorating because with this many trees, it takes me 2 weeks+. Also, I’m gone a couple days for my dad’s surgery. No one can steel my Christmas Magic. My dear friend Laura, sent me This Post about how people that decorate early are happier.

4. Us in Fall

I shared this photo on Instagram yesterday, my caption was I’m burning for you. LOL. This burning bush by our pond does not always beautifully bloom every year, but this year it was spot ON, so we put on our Flag and Anthem cuteness and got a photo.

MY YEARBOOK AI

So, the big thing right now is the app called EPIK where you can get yearbook photos from the early 90s by submitting current close ups. While I graduated in 1989, many of them were spot on how I would’ve dressed. This was my favorite of course! Ooh La La!

Have a wonderful last of October weekend!

FRIDAY FAVORITES MACKINAC ISLAND

Happy Friday! Deviating from normal Friday Favorites again as I had another exciting thing happening with my sweet mama that I wanted to share about today. Mom and I went this week up to Mackinac Island and had the best time! If you need to cool down, that’s where you need to go, plus the most charming, laid-back relaxation time!

If you’re not familiar with Mackinac Island, it is an island in northern Michigan right before you cross the bridge to the upper peninsula. You take the ferry over from Mackinaw City, and it is all wheel charm, not a motorized vehicle on the island everything is done via horse and carriage, or you bicycle.

The Grand Hotel

The grand Hotel is the majestic building on the island that you cannot miss. It is prominent and historic and over 130 years old, but the charm and aesthetic remain the same. There are still real keys to the rooms, you dress up for dinner (5 course meal), dancing to an orchestra, and all the things that you would expect from days gone by. The decor is beautiful the setting is enchanting, and we loved every second about staying there. Of the 388 rooms, no two are alike and just look darling ours was. Even canopy beds.

Pics in the Parlor and of the Terrace Room

Our view was of the Lake and the famous Ester Williams swimming pool.

Secret Garden

The hotel grounds are so beautiful, but probably my favorite is the hidden secret garden, where in the spring there are oodles of tulips and daffodils, and then replaced by annuals in the summer to create the most beautiful display of Flowers. If you look up high at the beautiful Grand Hotel.

The Front Porch

Something else enchanting about the hotel is the front porch. It is 660 feet long and the longest porch in the world. So fun to sit out there on the rockers, relax, and people watch!

The Flowers

Oh my goodness, you thought mine and my mom’s flowers were gorgeous. You should’ve seen the ones on the island! We were in flower heaven. Most of the homes display beautiful flowers, as well as all the charming displays and baskets in town! Absolutely beautiful.

Wings of Mackinac

I love me some butterflies, so imagine walking into a tropical oasis where there are hundreds of them! Some of the prettiest butterflies I’ve ever seen! They would even land on you. The cool thing that happened is that three of them the same ombré shades as my mom’s hat,

landed on top of it, and would not fly off, lol.

Bonus: Fredrick Meijer Gardens

We knew we wouldn’t be ready to go right home after leaving the island. We had always wanted to go to the Frederik Meijer botanical gardens in Grand Rapids so that’s exactly what we did on the way home on the most beautiful day! We are members at a local botanical garden, so we were able to get in for free and they were spectacular! It’s about 50 times bigger than the one in our town so we will have to go back because we barely had a chance to see all but were able to tour the Japanese gardens and Sculpture Park.

Grateful to spend these wonderful days with my mom! The perfect, traveling companion. Have a wonderful weekend, my dears!

xoxo
