FRIDAY FAVORITES...SUMMER IS FADING

Happy Friday sweethearts! As you all know, this girl loves her some Fall! It is my jam through and through. But I also adore summer, the warm temps, the pool time, the fun excursions etc. And now here we are halfway through August, and I want it to slow down just a bit for more summertime shenanigans! I don’t know about you, but I feel like August is still summer and then September is Fall no matter what the temperature is, LOL!

1. Aunt Linda

My Aunt Linda is one of my favorites! She is my dad‘s baby sister by 13 months and I adore her. My middle name was even inspired by her. Even though my dad lives several hours away, I am blessed that she is just 40 minutes from us in Michigan. Last Friday my mom and I took her to an early birthday lunch and enjoyed some time with her.

Flower picture of the week is my beautiful Verbena and creeping Jenny.

Aww… a baby elephant ear popping up.

We had terrible storms this week, came home to one of those beloved elephant ears fallen over.

Had to wait for Mr. Nine to get home to pick it up..it’s sooo heavy.

But this lil guy appeared within the minute to cheer me up.

FRIDAY FAVORITES...CHERRIES EDITION

Finally, we were blessed with a beautiful week of weather! Enjoyed a couple great day trips, reading outside, pool time and lots of long walks! While the weather doesn’t look as great this weekend and super HOT, you know we always make the most of it! Oh and Mr. Nine and I scheduled his and her colonoscopies for September, how romantic, lol. Cheers to your Friday!

1. Day in Ludington

Every time on our summer vacation, we pick a town close by to spend the day in. This time instead of going north we went an hour and a half South to Ludington. We’ve heard so many good things about this town but had only ever driven through. And while it was lovely, what we thought was going to be a quaint beach town day turned into one of the hikes of our lives! I logged like 24,000 steps that day, but it was so worth it, especially when we saw one of the most beautiful lighthouse we had ever seen.

The day started off with a Beach lighthouse track a giant pink chair and a corndog! I was craving a corndog and I swear this beach had the best concession stand ever!

We were so excited to see the Ludington State Park is there is so much to do there, and we cannot wait to bring the kids back someday. We thought it was just a walk out on appear to the lighthouse but no, it’s a hike! The path was sandy and fairly easy but thank goodness I had less dressy clothes to change into and my tennis shoes along!

We saw rain was coming in, but we were able to sit outside at the popular Jamesport Brewery for a most delightful meal! I had a hot bacon spinach salad and fabulous pineapple martini! We drove back tired in the pouring rain but thankful for a fun day trip!

2. Day in South Haven

Happy to get in a day trip with mom as week this well. We went up to South Haven, Michigan where Mr. Nine and I went in May. It’s such a great beach town.

We did lots of our favorite things, which was to shop the cute town shops, grab a gourmet hotdog from the new hotdog stand called Chomps, which was phenomenal. We also got ice cream from Kilwins, a fresh cookie, walked it off with a long walk to the beach and finished the day relaxing watching the boats go in and out of Lake Michigan. Great Day and perfect weather.

You knew I would have to wear a cherry sweater when I went to the cherry hut! I thought we might also make it up to the cherry festival in Traverse City but that never happened, but I sure was grateful for these photos plus the sweater happens to be one that you guys have purchased the most and one of my favorites!

ANNUAL FLOWER FUN

It’s no secret that I am flower crazy and luckily, inherited a green thumb from my mama! She and I have already hit some green houses and have several of our annual flowers bought. With the weather outlook now a little better earlier in northern Indiana, I’ve gotten a jump on getting these puppies in the pots and they'll be in the ground probably today or tomorrow.

We are those people that rarely buy already done up greenhouse pots, we like to plant our own and watch them grow like crazy with tender loving care and miracle grow. I thought you guys might want to see a round up at some of my beautiful posies from last year.

I’m doing a little changeup in annuals this year but one thing that will remain the same is the Pink bubblegum petunias, I literally have 6 dozen of these babies to plant. For me and for my mom, they are the hardiest and most beautiful at the proven winners’ annual flowers and seem to do the best in our seasonal zone.

You can also that I’ll be having a couple elephant ear plants this year. Ours grew so tall last year and we’re such a conversation piece, so much fun and so tropical feeling close to the pool.

And the Hibiscus are always a hit!

Last Years were called "Chatty Cathy"

Here is one the 3 Fiesta Hibiscus that I purchased last week,
I'll be keeping in the sunroom til warm enough outside.

A couple ferns always do so well on our front porch as well and I’m hoping I can find the coleus plants that grew so tall on the porch last year too.

BUY SWEATSHIRT HERE
From Last Thursday. We always get the ferns first and at one particular
greenhouse as they are only 10.99ea there.

Just look how big the Coleus's got last year!! This was September.

I’ve got some new perennials to plant as well. We have a little area by our pool house that we’re dedicating to Mr. Nine’s mom. I got some Daisy May daisies to plant too in honor of our Daisy which mom said are a great proven winner perennial and some new pink and red tinted hydrangeas for the front. I’ll let you know how they do.

Do you plant annuals? Perennials? And do you have a garden? That’s one thing we have not done at the new house but I especially want some tomatoes, LOL!

We keep failing to get a more recent photo together in the greenhouses.

And one more time...My Fav Flower pic from Last year.

OK, I’m signing off to get my hands diggin in the dirt!

One of my favorite things to do and I hope y’all have a great start to your week!
