I got this pretty dress (Sopronao Brand from Nordstrom) several months ago as I thought I was going to wear it in Vegas but decided to save it for summer vacation. What I did not realize was that the split was cut a little higher then I remembered and how was I to know that I would be wearing it on a breezy summer evening?
So, here lies the problem. Every time a breeze would come up, it would fly the split up and you could see way too much. My husband joked that I would probably never wear that on a windy night again. Maybe if I was younger, some cute little boy shorts underneath would work. Needless to say, the dress was pretty comfy and I loved The espadrilles and choker necklace with it.
Trying to hold it down, lol
You can still get theses darling espadrilles HERE
(they got [43] 4 3/4 star reviews!)

About a week later, I saw the same dress on a 19-year-old I thought to myself; maybe that's the problem, I was just too old we are such a high split, ha ha!
AND You're getting another Twofer this week as for the first time EVAH I am linking up with Anne at In Residence for her

monthly "Currently" Link-Up.
What have I been waiting for, right??
snacking on: ice cold watermelon chunks, fresh mozzarella balls, and cherry sour balls.
anticipating: every step of the house build! Framing stages currently
borrowing: if ideas from Pinterest count, then I'm borrowing ideas from there always!
admiring: my mom! She is just such a doll. Here she is on the right in her cute little fedora on a day she and her friend Chris went to a winery. Can you believe this beautiful lady is going to be 70 in November? I always tell her I do not believe I am aging as well as she has. She continues to be stylish, hip, has an eye for a beautiful art and decor and most importantly is a sweet as they come! Today these ladies are in Chicago and going on the Architectural Cruise.
purchasing: starting to purchase new Decor for the home. I am a person who likes to build room decorations off some accent pieces. I found this beautiful wave picture with blues and I'm leaning towards some rich navy, just love this pom-pom velvet navy pillow.
These are from our day trip to Traverse City when we where on vacation..it was during the "Cherry" festival.

Bwah, hahahahahahaha I love the meme at the end, YES we are all tired of seeing underwear! Your dress is just as beautiful on you as any 19 year old btw but I feel you with the wind. I don't have anything with a split anymore but even my skirts and dresses that aren't maxi length blow up on me all the time when I'm at school doing car duty. And trust me, no parent or child wants to see that! It may not even seem windy and then I go out there and it's like a wind storm rolls in, ugh! Those espadrilles are super cute too.
ReplyDeleteThat mom of yours is just as precious as they come and no doubt you are her "mini me" you'll age just as gracefully and beautifully.
The house is getting very exciting and I can't wait to see how you decorate it!!!
Happy Wednesday gorgeous friend!
xo,
Kellyann
That dress looks darling on you! Hopefully, you didn't show to much of your undies! HA!
ReplyDeleteYour mom is beautiful!
I can't wait to see more of the house pictures!
You look gorgeous in that dress! The wind can be a real struggle haha.
ReplyDeleteOh the split dresses - those can be tricky but it looks flawless on you! I love the dark navy theme for one of the rooms!! xo,Biana-BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteOh, windy days! I love the dress, though. And, how your home decor is coming together.

I once constructed a room around a tissue box - kid you not! I'm loving that new house; look at that sweet mama!! Girl, let me just tell you mozzarella and cherry tomatoes have been my JAM this week. You know what? I just love you and I hope your Tuesday is half as awesome as you are....go on with that split girl the boats are rocking because you're such a sight! XOXOXOX
ReplyDeleteDang wind getting in the way of your cute dress! Too funny though, I am sure that added a little drama to the evening ;-) Your mom is cute as can be and the house is really coming along. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is absolutely stunning on you and I love those espadrille wedges! LOVE those deep blue tones you're going to be adding to the house!!
ReplyDeleteRosy Outlook
First off.... Love the dress but that darn split would get me too !! At least you have great legs ! Secondly.... I haven't had cherry sour balls in what seems like 20 years and now you have me wanting to go find some :) and last that blue pillow and picture in frame is perfection. I can't wait to see more of what your decorating plans are. Happy Wednesday !
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun dress. A high split can be such a fun addition, except on those super breezy days when you feel your putting on a show, lolol. It looks amazing on you. House framing, Eeeeekkkk!!!! Can't wait
ReplyDeleteI'm skipping past the fashion today to say I'm so excited about your house!! You are going to love this process as much as we have - I hope. We've been here 5 weeks now and I'm beginning to really figure things out. Using a piece of art or something as your starting off point is such a great idea. I once used a pitcher as my inspiration when we built a house years ago. :)
ReplyDeleteBoth you and your mom - and her friend! - are beautiful! I can't imagine not having my own mom not in my life anymore. Just last night I had to call her with a problem. She was out of town helping my brother and his family, but she still talked to me and was able to calm me down. Or talk me off the ledge! Ha! Whichever! Stay beautiful Big Sis! And hold that skirt down! LOL! Mucho lovo to you today!
ReplyDeleteI remember slit skirts in the 90's and living downtown I was always holding it so it wouldn't fly open! I love the print of your dress! You look so pretty! So exciting that you new house is well under way!

Doused in Pink
I have been loving that Soprano brand from Nordstrom! I got a purple lavender lace dress to wear to my cousin's bridal shower from the brand and just love it. This dress looks fabulous on you and you are not too old for the high slit! I love it!! Also, I already love the items you picked out for the new house...that navy pom pom pillow is everything!

A Blonde's Moment
I had to laugh at the wind story....but that even happens when my skirts are long enough. Although I find maxis way better to contain when it's windy!!
ReplyDeleteBut never say that about being too old for it---you are the most vibrant woman ever, and everything looks great on you!!
XOXO

Did you hear that bang? That was my mouth hitting the floor. Your Mother looks AH-Mazing!! You have some fantastic genes. Your new home is gonna be so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous is this dress on you, and that tan!!! I can share your pain on wearing a flowy dress on a blustery day, the struggle is definitely for real - yipes! And so so so exciting about the framework going up on the new house. I bet it feels so much more real now <3

Indeed your mom IS beautiful! But this is no surprise to me. ;) And congrats on the home project...praying it goes quickly and smoothly for you. Of course I love this dress and I say it's perfect for you, split and all. However, I understand the dilemma with lengths and splits. And just in case you don't see my replies to your comments on my posts...you're a wonderful encourager and the type of blogger I aspire to be. have a beautiful week my blogger friend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun post and I love that dress! The split is perfect! Now I have to go find some candy and cheese for breakfast! Peace!

Girl, I have had the hardest time with dresses blowing all over this summer! Add in trying to juggle a baby and needless to say, I have probably flashed a few people around here more than they wanted to see haha. I feel like if I put on a dress, there is bound to be some crazy winds. It sure is pretty though!!! Mmmmm give me all the sour cherry balls. One of my favorites! Look how far along your house is coming!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin??? Well let's start at the top. That dress looked darling on you and slit or no slit it worked girl! Your sweet mama really is aging well and you are going to follow in her footsteps for sure. I mean look at you now...not a wrinkle to be seen. #jealous The house being framed. EEEKKKKK!!!! So exciting and what a gorgeous lot with all those trees behind it. You are going to just love that!!! Not sure which room those blue beauties are going in, but it's going to be gor-geous!!! Happy Wednesday sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dress, you definitely rocked it but I get what you're saying...that totally would have happened to me hahaha. I just adore your cute Mom, what a lovely lady and I CAN'T believe she will be 70- what a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI feel like every time I go to take pics the wind wants to come out and make it difficult for me lol You still look fabulous as always! I have been loving all things floral print lately. Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI think the dress looks amazing on you.. and arent windy days fun when taking pictures, split or no split? You always radiate.. great smile and tan my friend! I have been eating watermellon and cantalopue like crazy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

That off the shoulder look is fab! (I need your tan!) Also, where did you score those home decor finds? LOVE the pillow! Thanks for your comment on my master bedroom!
ReplyDeleteIt's not an age thing. My husband would put me on a subway vent, wait got a gust then take a pic. He's mean like that. At least yours is supportive. Great dress though. I saw a maxi like this on holiday on a lady in her 60son or so. She looked fab but I was in fear she'd trip on the back as she was dancing in heels and the back dragged on the ground.
ReplyDeleteyour momma is adorable! I see where its a family trait ;)
ReplyDeleteI hate that when you get a dress or skirt & dont know the fly-away action is possesses. I have some short knit skirts that any windy day, WHOOOOO - they swoop up so easily.
Loooooove seeing your house progress- also your yard looks amazing. How big is the lot?
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty OTS dress! You look good! And I second Jessi... I need your tan!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so cute, but that sucks that it was so windy when you wore it out! I always hate dealing with the wind because I'm scared that one of these days my dress will fly up in front of everybody! And those first few pieces that you got for your house are so pretty! I love the wave picture!
ReplyDeleteOh no--I feel like I always pick the windiest days to wear dresses and skirts, and then I regret it. Such a pretty dress though! How exciting about your house--I love the little sneak peek of the decor, so pretty! Also... I had no idea there were little snack sizes of that fresh mozzarella. Yum!
ReplyDeleteWell you made out lucky in the gene pool! Your Mom is gorgeous. Wind and dresses is not a good mix but you looked beautiful as always.
ReplyDeleteCute dress! Sorry the slit is a bit too high though. I'm always having to hold my dresses down when it's windy.

LOLing at your dress! You are NOT too old to wear that dress! I have a shirt that splits at the front that I got from Anthro a few summers ago and I have to be really careful wearing it because I do not need it flying open to reveal everything! Love the picture of your house progress and the picture of your mom who is GORGEOUS! You must tell her I said that!
ReplyDeleteSarah at MeetTheShaneyfelts
Well the split didn't work out for the windy day but it sure looks great on you! Your mom is just beautiful, you are so lucky to have a great one like her!
ReplyDeleteOh girl you look so good! That younger gal
ReplyDeletewas envious of your legs I'm sure! You got good genes!
Well hey there, Marilyn Monroe! Your styling of this dress is on point! Love the navy house purchases!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you are too old for that dress at all! I think it is gorgeous and flattering!! That darn wind always getting in the way! And how cute is your mom!! Love that she is still going out and about!
ReplyDeletewww.rdsobsessions.com
That dress is so pretty! Windy days always happen when I'm wearing a flowy skirt. LoL.
ReplyDeleteThis OFTS dress looks gorgeous on you Andrea and you styled it to a T with all the perfect accessories. No way are you too old for a high split dress!! I'm thinking the wind factor made it feel too Marilyn Monroe for you but let's face it, I'm sure you styled it better than anyone else! xo Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
ReplyDeleteLOL oh dear Andrea! You're never too old for a thigh high split LOL! You look fabulous though, regardless of you having to hold down the dress.

I would totally try that dress with some white skinnies underneath! I bet you could totally rock that look. The house has made so much progress!! That is just too exciting. And your momma...precious, precious.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Andrea! As always!
ReplyDeleteDid I somehow miss that you're building a home?! How freaking exciting!!! What fun it will be to decorate it all! But I'm sure it's such an overwhelming job too...Love the dress and of course your CUTE Mom in her fedora! Such a babe!! Happy almost weekend, love! XOXO

Maybe you could stitch together part of the slit? Because it's so cute and looks fab on you!
ReplyDeleteI love all things Cherry Republic - they just opened a store in my town within walking distance of my house, and my preschooler and I might swing by there with some frequency to check out the samples they have out... So glad you had the chance to link up for the first time.
Such a pretty dress on you! And your mom is adorable! I can see where you get your amazing fashion sense and beauty from! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty dress! You look fabulous! Can you maybe add a stitch or two? I did that recently with a skirt with a split that came up way too high, and I'm very happy with it.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great week dear Andrea!

That dress looks fab on you! I actually have been wearing dresses that fly up, haha! I never look outside when I get dressed, and I probably should, I look at the temps, but never the wind, oops! Your mom is too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! You can pull off over the shoulder dresses so well!

Thanks for joining the Top of the World Style linkup party.
ReplyDeleteAndrea, you look smashing in this dress, don't worry about the leg, a bit of skin looks sexy, maybe you can use some cute little pin or just join the split with few stitches but whatever you do, just don't let it just hung in the closet
ReplyDeletehttps://lookingfabulousat50.blogspot.com.au/
But you look so gorgeous in that dress! Who cares about a little leg?! You can pull it off!
ReplyDeleteHaha I can just imagine the "Marilyn" moments when the wind picked up! Nevertheless, I think this dress looks gorgeous on you!

ReplyDeleteYou rocked that dress just as good as a 19 year old. Oh how I know about wind and dresses/skirts 😊 but I guess it just adds a little fun into our day. One more thing, your mom looks fantastic.

So happy to see a picture of your sweet mama. Tell her that seventy is the new fifty. I turned seventy in July. She is adorable...as is her sweet daughter! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love that tulip front midi dress so much and I own a similar one but mine is a maxi so the slit isn't as high. Maybe you should try one of those. Love how you styled it with those adorable fun espadrilles and happy 70th to your beautiful mom!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed beautiful Traverse City. Isn't Michigan gorgeous especially the UP?! I love that you did a currently update. I do these currently posts and linkup with Anne every month. I love doing them. =)
