Tradition! Every first Friday in May, my mom and I go greenhouse hopping and stuff our vehicles with flowers galore. Then it's home to plant, plant, plant and sure to be sore the next day. I literally made 33 trips from my garage to the shed where I do my potting. This year, we managed to hit 6 greenhouses all by
1 pm. We both ran out of room so it was back the next morning to two of our favorites to finish up. I know, more flowers just means more care and watering, but they are so beautiful!!!! My mother has had the most beautiful flowers in our area for as long as I can remember and often gets consulted on
"What flowers should I get?", so you can bet I got my green thumb from this lovely lady!!
This is the majority of the traffic we see when flower shopping in the middle of Amish Country. Of course I stopped for some homemade cinnamon rolls too!! Best Cinnamon rolls ever. I always get them for Christmas morning and of course any time we go to this Amish town.
Here are some of my posies from last year.
This one below was my favorite last year and we were lucky enough to find it again this year. It is a perennial but I had it in a pot which at the end of the season you could plant it in the ground for next year.

Absolutely gorgeous! I'm going to consider you the petunia queen for this week. It seems like it gets too hot here in Texas after awhile and they aren't quite as pretty. The newer varieties are much improved though. I love your deck! What a happy place. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining the garden party today.
I love your mother/daughter tradition.
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to enjoy watching me in the garden, but she never liked working in the garden. But, both my sister and I love to garden.
I wish your a bountiful harvest of blooms this spring.
Very Pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove all those posies on your deck. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteAndrea- when you say posies, are those petunias?
ReplyDeleteWe can grow petunias where I live but they have a very short life.
The end is not good.
Do you feed them?
I am so glad you shared this at our Garden Party!
Welcome!

All of those gorgeous flowers would put me on cloud nine! :) I have to attribute my green thumb to my sweet mother as well. She's passed now, but I can't help but think of her when I am in the garden. She loved it as much as I do. It truly rejuvenates me. I am heading to a nursery with a friend tomorrow to do just what you do with your mother. It's so fun and of course we stop and have lunch. Wish I could grab one of those yummy cinnamon rolls! Happy to be following you on google and thanks for sharing with our Garden Party.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Oh Andrea you indeed have a gorgeous green thumb. I will have to seek out that coral phlox. Thank you so very much for linking up to the garden party. Your post was completely enchanting.
