BUNK ROOM REFRESH

When we built our home six years ago, we had dreams of future grandchildren, so we decided to build a fun bunk room in the house that would be just for them. I kept it somewhat neutral and nautical, but the minute I found out we were having twin granddaughters, I had to give it the feminine touch. I have kept the previous blue and white striped comforters and some of the navy blue sheets in case we ever get to incorporate some grandsons in the mix. I still have some work to do like a project I'll mention below and adding in all the books to the bookshelves. The kids haven't even seen it in person yet, I can't wait.

What it used to look like:

And you can see more in This POST!

What fun I had! This was my project after the babies shower was finished and I loved gathering everything for it. My vision started with the Pom Pom Name Banners I had made made for the shower and I was so lucky to find Floral Sheets that matched the colors so good. That was my inspiration. I’ve mentioned it before about the amazing line at Target called Pillowfort for Kids. This room refresh is primarily courtesy of Target and that line of kids cuteness! I've linked almost everything I used in this post!

What  it looks like Now:

The mattresses on the top are really tight, thanks to that awesome Amish craftsman for building it so well but they’re so good thar everything fits just perfectly. However, I do have a hard time getting the comforters on so I thought it was cute just with the sheets and then they can pull up a blanket or comforter over them. Let’s all be honest it’ll be several years before they’re on the top bunks , lol.

I just love the pink velvet reversible Comforters on the bottom.

Will you look at these Butterfly Letter Boards. How fun will it be to change out the words and sayings? I just love this for Rattan Table, also from Target.

(Mr. Nine's rocker as a boy)

And oh these Swivel Chairs with the Daisy Pillows!

I kept the bunk room letters on the wall but the window desperately needed something. My original focus a few years ago was to put a shiplap wood valance but the lady who made them on Etsy went out of business so I decided to get a Precious Curtain and a two dollar Daisy Tieback that fit the room perfectly.

Isn’t this Table from Wayfair just darling! Can you picture future tea parties here with this Tea Set (GREAT GIFT IDEA)? My mom got me years ago in anticipation for future granddaughters! The braided Scalloped rug goes perfectly.

Now we probably won’t leave the TV Console here. It is quite heavy and the plans are to mount the TV on the wall for that shows but for now I just up this wall with these Daisy Decals that go on and off so easily without pulling the paint.

And while my project for the Daisy board was not done by the time this post was published, here is what I am creating, only a smaller version to hang on the wall. Check out This Post from Erin Solange to see how she did it and where I garnered my inspiration.

I just think it turned out so cute and I cannot wait for the girls to see it and make countless memories in here for their time at Grammy and Pop Nine’s house!

BUNK ROOM BLUES

Here we are, over three years later, and I still have not showed you every room in our house and nothing yet on the basement level. Now that the boys are pretty much gone, I’ve added a little bit more pop to the bunk room and we love it!

LOVE all the Bunk Shelving.

We were so lucky that our builder found an Amish craftsman to build this bunk set as the wall went at an angle. There’s plenty of bookshelf room so you know if future grandkids will have lots of reading material. I can’t say this room is completely done as we’re going to redo the wall with the TV and hutch but it sure is getting there.

Therefore, I thought it was definitely time to show you what I’ve done so far

I found the bedding sets before these were even built and I have linked a couple below.

Very cute story about the yellow pillows on the bed. The other side says you are my sunshine, but I’d like the pop of yellow how it looks on the plain side. These were found at the dollar spot at Target for $5. However, our Target only had two and no local stores had anymore. Enter my bestie Laura down in the Monroe, Louisiana from The Horton Family. Bless her heart, her Target never has anything but sure enough, they had two of these pillows and she shipped them to me. If looking for just yellow, Nearly identical ones HERE.

The cloud and star pillows with a little poms are from Amazon and I just love them!

One of our sons had the lil rocking chair in his room when he was little, it was hunter green with gold stars then in a cabin themed room, so I just painted it navy blue with white stars. Here is an Adorable Child's Rocker.

Isn’t this Pom Pillow so cute! It is BACK IN STOCK Target but is it just precious with the colorful poms.

The BUNK letters were black from Hobby Lobby, but I spray painted them navy.

I called this post Bunk Room “Blues,” not only because I have a lot of blue Hughes but because I need your help with the window! This room is in the basement and there’s a little insert window that I need help deciding what to do as far as a window treatment goes. We have black out blinds for it, but I want something cute. I was thinking about a wood awning but what are your thoughts?

FRIDAY FAVORITES....SLOW DOWN SEPTEMBER

I am so very grateful for Friday!!! I really feel like September is moving way too fast! I feel wiped out from this week and although Saturday looks great weather wise, it is going to be in the high 80's and I want a crisp Fall Day but no complaints. Bring on Friday Night football, Notre Dame football, pizza and you might find me baking up some pumpkin concoctions because.......

Yes, Pumpkin Spice Season is upon us! I've been having my fill because on Monday I've got a treat for you...I'm reviewing a bunch of popular pumpkin spice products. I added this one here today as is a Home Goods find that I had never seen before. I'd give it 4/5 pumpkins!

2. Bunk Room

I'm so excited to say we are having a bunk room similar to this in the new house! While our boys will love hanging out in there when they're all home, we actually have eyes on the future as the cool grandparents (someday) where there are super cool bunks.
Oh and blogger peeps welcome!! I'll make you brunch!!

And my greatest deal of the week: I knew I wanted navy and white striped comforters for the bunks. How excited was I to get all 4 of them online at Target for $60 total!!! That's $15 apiece and they are SUPER soft!

Day Date
So as you know last Saturday, 9/9 was a day date for us to celebrate our first date and summer coming to a close. We opted for a noon breakfast and a car show/band at our favorite southern Michigan winery. I had the BEST cocktail: Bourbon, Apple Cider, Ginger Ale with Fall spices...so good. Poor Mr. Nine started to feel ill so we ended the day around 5. Thank goodness he was better Sunday and I am happy to have him home after a business trip this week.
