SHORT SLEEVE SNIPPETS

I know several of you are ready for Fall and it is most definitely on the radar. However, Summer is still in our backyard and my office can be hot, so I realized I have several short sleeve outfit pics. I usually try to take a picture of each work outfit but don't always use them all. However, I thought why not do a lil post on some of the short sleeve tops I haven't shared yet. Plus, for the first time in 6 months I have a "What to Post?" moment. As I post this, it is actually 56 degrees out with a high of 72! I cannot believe it, so I may wear long sleeves today. Ha! I know mother nature is just fooling me, high 80's next week.

MAXI Love

I have really been loving Maxi dresses the past couple years but this year I fell in love with the pleated ones like this one I'm wearing from J.C. Penny. They are even more forgiving and just look cool. Pulling out this oldie but goodie for AGELESS STYLE

I have to buzz through Penny's to get into the Mall and I had seen this dress twice, but on the 3rd time though, I knew I had to bite the bullet and try it on. My hands were clamming up on the way to the dressing room. You see, twice, yes, twice I have been stuck in a dress at Penny's!!! The first time I was with my mom so at least she was there to help me. It still wasn't easy and we were laughing so hard I am sure our fellow dressing room patrons were wondering what we nut cases were doing. By now I have learned to always try on the larger size dress first. However, the 2nd attempt, I tried on the smaller size first. Sure it was a little snug, but it's not like I couldn't zip it up. My tummy pooched a little, but it was on!!
Whoo hoo. Until....it was time to take it off.
The zipper was stuck halfway but I truly believed there was plenty of leeway room to get it over my head...wrong!! The gorgeous red sheath was suddenly now too tight to get over my head and to0 tight to pull down over my thighs. "Help I can't breathe", I yelled in my head, sweat pouring down me. Up and down I danced around the dressing room my claustrophobia escalating my the second. Oh my, not my best undies today, how can I go out and find help?? Determination replaced dread and the sweat, making me somewhat slick suddenly assisted when I yanked for the umpteenth time and that zipper broke loose. Free, I'm free. I had not been back in a J.C. Penny's dressing room since that day. So, here I was desperately wanting this Maxi but with no time to return it before vacation knew I must try on. Got in the dressing room and guess what, no zippers.
I panicked for a brief moment when the lining got caught on my gold hoop earring but I had conquered this obstacle and I ended up trying on 6!! This is still the one I came home with.

I'M SO FANCY!

Well, that is what this darling Kimono set says. I'm so in love with it's vibrant colors, styling options and how incredibly comfy it is. By the way, who isn't simply loving Kimono's this season!!
Anyway, this term "I'm So Fancy" evoked so many things for me and ignited this post.
First of all the song by my adored Iggy Azalea shall forever remain at the top of my charts despite what our children say regarding it's "sooo last year." I have been known to simply begin belting it out at any given moment, at any given place.

However, what the term truly evokes is the fact that I am not really that fancy nor do I want to be. Yes, I adore dressing up in pretty clothes and going out for a lovely dinner now and then. Yet, this mama is perfectly content to stay home in my favorite Eddie Bauer cozy cardi and white comfy pants watching T.V with my family or spending Sunday sans make-up and eating homemade cookies while a crumb or two may get embedded in the couch. I remember years ago driving with a friend to Florida and I had on a yellow jogging suit. When I got out at a gas station my friend reveled to me I had sat on a junior mint and it was all over my butt. I just laughed and said "see this is why I cold never be a politicians wife!" My thinking was that a person with that status would be mortified by such a thing but not me. When I think of fancy, I think Hoity-Toity and please, don't let me ever be that or think of me as that! I'd die! You see Hoity-Toity to me, is someone who is marked by an air of assumed importance, being pompous, stuck-up or overly posh. I am none of those things. I believe all people, despite wealth or status should be treated with the same respect. After all, God created us in his image and he wants us to love each other and not act like we are better than our fellow man or woman.

My husband came home a few weeks ago telling me we had a table reserved for his company at a local Boys and Girls Club Auction. First words out of my mouth were "Is this going to be Hoity-Toity?" Well, you see we live in the R.V capitol of the world along with many small town conservatives and while many of these good people are quite wonderfully supportive of events like this, yes, some (not all) of them are Hoity-Toity."
He assured me I'd be fine. Ya know why? I will be just fine because I will treat each one of them with the respect, love and fun that we all deserve even if they think I am a blonde
nut ball or that they are better than me!
I prefer to be the fancy one in my own family (well, I am the only girl) and not in my community and just so my husband and kids remember that, I will keep singing it in the kitchen even if I do have a junior mint stuck to the butt of my white comfy pants!!!!!

JUMPING for Date Night

When we go on vacation, My husband and I like to take a night to do a "date night" and leave the kids in the condo. We usually take them to get some Subway and they are all set to chill and watch movies. Down on Grand Cayman, we also had to buy a dessert they fell in love with: "Tortuga" Rum Cakes."
