I really should title this The February Floods for the Record Books Edition. You guys, we have been in a state of emergency the past several days. As
you may know about a 1/2 acre behind our new house is a river and across
the street, a large pond with the river winding behind that. Watching
it all rise has had us in panic. It made the National News. Schools have been closed, roads
closed, people rescued. Luckily our builder was smart and had truck load
after truck load of dirt brought in to build us up on a hill. Never in our
wildest dreams would we think it’d get close until this week when
mother nature broke all records. Just look at this:
Had a ball with this boy and just when I had a hankering for sushi, that is exactly where they wanted to go...a sushi restaurant! Soooo good!
And just look at this lil guy, His roommate got a pet Guinea Pig and
our son named him: Fredrick. He sure does get fed nice salads.
2. Office Chair
I searched high and low for an office chair and was tickled pink to find this one at Marshalls. With lots of pink in the office area, I didn’t want to go that route so the gold nail edge trim adds the perfect feminine touch. One problem, I have gone through a half bottle of Febreze as this chair stinks but it’s getting better thank goodness.

making hot tea, smoothies, energy balls and maybe even muffins with it. It’s
sooo good!

ReplyDeleteIt is always a bit nerve wracking with the water comes up like that, especially when it's your backyard! I hope it starts working it's way down soon! I love that office chair. Hopefully the smell goes away soon, that part's a bummer. Feel better soon pretty lady and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou and your son are adorable together!
ReplyDeleteLove your sweater and gingham blouse. There's a navy and white gingham blouse coming in the mail to me right now. Can't wait to recreate this look.

I've been praying for y'all, Andrea, and I'm so glad to hear that the water has crested. Hopefully these are some early "spring showers" and the rest of March - May will be beautiful in your neck of the woods. Love the outfit you pulled together for your college visit and I will NOT be showing Alise the pic of your son's roommate's new friend, because she's been wanting a Guinea Pig, too. (Insert eye roll!) Love to you and wishing you a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo many awesome things on these favorites today, but I'm glad the water has crested! I hope you get all the rest you need this weekend! Feel better!

The gift exchange sounds like such a cute idea! I can't wait to see what you came up with using matcha powder! I love the taste of matcha but have never made anything with it. I think that needs to change!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma was just telling me about the benefits of machta! I never realized it came in a powder form! LOVE your outfit worn to Bloomington - so cute. Hope those waters start receding for you guys - flooding is no joke!
ReplyDeleteWe just had our flood walls installed this morning - the water is SOOOO high - flooding everything out & we still have 2 days of rain ahead of us... isnt it in like a lion, out like a lamb? That's March, right? I think its jumping the gun.
ReplyDeletehope you're feeling better!!!! UGh... its been a rough year for so many with sickies. Come on fresh clean air!
The flooding was on the news here last night of course. That is great news that the river has crested though. So sorry about your cold too and I hope that you feel better soon. On a brighter note, your new office chair is pretty and love your bright red sweater. I am glad that you had fun visit with your son too. Frederick and his salad are also too cute!! :-) Have a lovely weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's flooded here - what is up with this weather! Hope you feel better.

Love the office chair and the outfits (as usual). I'm sorry about the cold you caught and the flooding! No fun on either of those fronts! But a huge yay for a college visit!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, that is scary with all the flooding! Glad your builder thought better and raised the area your house sits. Your office chair is so cute!!! That is totally something I would have picked for myself. Strange it stinks, maybe the fabric dye? I am sure it will chill over time. That outfit you wore for sushi with the boys is so cute! I never did turn down a sushi date! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love that red sweater outfit! I find the cutest things at Marshalls, that chair is awesome
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you had all that flooding, and I'm sure it gave you a scare! And sorry that you caught a cold...hope it doesn't slow you down for long! I love your office chair. I have read so many reviews of both upholstered and wood furniture that gives off an odor for days after purchase. It makes you wonder about those chemicals! Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I know how scary it is to watch the water rise around your house! Thank goodness it’s all crested though and hopefully the rain will stop! I’m glad that you had a great time visiting your son, and sushi really is the best! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love your style! The red pops on you with that gingham. I need the Marshall's office chair in my life. It's fabulous!

I am so glad the water didn't make it to your house! That is so scary and I would have been panicking too. I have been saying all week that I've wanted sushi so I'm hoping we can make that happen. What a cute little guinea pig. We used to have two when we were growing up. I hope you feel better! Stay cozy and enjoy some relaxing! Sierra~Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness friend - stay safe! Flooding is so scary. I'm in love with your red sweater outfit, and I was laughing that you found the boots under the bed. Sounds like me. Have a great weekend, stay dry, and feel better!
ReplyDeleteThat chair...swoon. I love it. Please stay safe. I can't believe all the flooding going on. Sushi and a college visit sound like a lot of fun. I hope you have the best weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you've been going through all of that. Will be praying. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteIf only you could divert all that rain over here...we are way behind...AGAIN. Things aren't nearly as green as they were last year and that makes me sad. I love it when the hills are green. Thank goodness your builder had the good sense to build y'all up. That's just crazy. Your red and gingham are a match made in heaven. Love the new chair. Look for a product (I know Walmart has carried it in the past) called Odo-ban. My mom uses it and I've used it too. It's a neutralizer and might take care of the weird smell. Have the best weekend cutie pie! XO
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe those two photos! I am so glad your builders were smart and put your gorgeous new home up high. Hoping those waters recede QUICK and you feel better soon. Loving your outfits and the fun red.

I love the grey sweater dress, Andrea. And the gingham shirt and red sweater are darling on you. Don't you love when you find the perfect thing at Marshalls? Love the chair. Have a wonderful weekend, dear Andrea.
ReplyDeleteOH man, sure hope you can start feeling better..being sick and flooded sucks!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you have a cold on top of having to deal with the flooding. I hope this goes away asap! I love that red and gingham look on you! Have a nice cozy snuggly evening and get better soon!
ReplyDeleteI love the office chair and I'm kind of sad for you that it stinks... hopefully that will dissipate for good soon. We have really high lakes and river totals right now too but thankfully nothing that is coming close enough to the house to have to worry about. Thank goodness you had a really smart and thorough builder!
ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of flooding here too. There are a lot of streets that were closed because of the flooding.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the red sweater with a gingham shirt under it. I really love gingham.
February goes by way too fast! That office chair is so pretty, so hopefully the smell will get better.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you didn't have any damage to your home. Our dock is no longer visible. Crazy weather.
ReplyDeleteLove sushi, love your outfits (as always--red is your color!). And the chair! Score! It's always cool to walk into one of those stores and see the perfect piece with the perfect price. I found a chair, a Louis IV, and scooped it up for my hubby's office. Then I fell in love with it and stole it for myself!!
Happy Weekend!
Jane
You found a perfect chair! I like it! And those earrings too! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a busy week Andrea, scary stuff too. Hope your weekend goes well. x Jacqui

Wow, that is some serious flooding! I'm in McKinney Texas right now visiting with Alana and her family. I saw on the news that some areas of Dallas had issued flood warnings. Glad you're okay and no damage to your home. Love the chair! I mix vodka and lemon essential oil in a spray bottle for a room and fabric deodorizer. Great picture of you and your son! Alana and Chris will join the ranks of college parents when Chase goes to uni this fall. He just signed his papers to play soccer. Have a good weekend...stay dry...hope your cold is better... xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh no sorry to hear about the flooding! That's so scary but glad it's clearing up and I hope you're cold is too. Fredrick the Guinea pig is too cute with his salad. Love the office chair! I'm sure it brings a nice touch to the pink and gold colors. Have a lovely weekend! xo Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
ReplyDeleteOh wow, hope everything is ok with the flooding :(
ReplyDeleteLove your red jumper with the gingham shirt. Looks lovely together. Thanks so much for sharing your post with us at Welcome To The Weekend Blog Hop, Andrea. Have a great weekend and we hope to see you soon. #Weekendbloghop
That office chair is just so cute!! I def. love your interior design taste! I hope you are feeling better. That guinea pig is so cute, I've always wanted one... but, my kids both have their own hamster. Flooding is so scary, even if you know you're up high and safe. We have flooding around our house sometimes and 2 years ago it was so bad it took me 3.5 hours in the car to get home during the kids Christmas break... we had just went to a bowling alley 15 minutes away! What a mess that was... I wish we had stayed in that day! It was the first time we had ever had flooding in this area (I have lived here since 2003 and it flooded super bad in 2016!). It's flooded one more time since then, but not as bad. They've built some new levee's, etc. and I think it's putting more water down our way! :( Thankfully, we're super high up... it's the roads that get to be a mess when they flood!

Wow, now that's ALOT of water!! Is it going down now? I hope you're feeling better! Brayden and I got the flu this week and it's been NO FUN. I feel like I blinked and here we are at the weekend. That guinea pigs salad is so adorable LOL
ReplyDeleteWatching that flood must've been SO hard and scary. I hope it is going down friend. We had SO much rain over the weekend, lots of flooding over here too. Not nearly as bad as y'all though. I am sending prayers for warm sunshine your way.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the floods and how close they are to you. That must be scary. That chair you got for your office is the cutest and I ove the outfit with the red sweater and gingham shirt!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up with me on Thursdays. Also, starting this upcoming Sunday on March 4th I will be running a monthly style linkup which will go on the first Sunday of each month. Come join it and share your awesome style. Thanks, Ada. =)
Oh my goodness friend....I had not even realized you were in the danger zone for the flooding. So glad it has stayed away from your beautiful new home!! The gingham and red sweater are absolutely perfect and I know you enjoyed that visit!!
