Just the words Red Velvet make me so happy! I was so excited about this comfort food progressive meal blog hop with three of my fellow Blended Blog sisters Katie, Christy, and Leslie. Katie has drinks, Christy, a yummy spinach salad and Leslie; Chicken pot pie!!I was most happy that my category was desserts so I could share this beautiful and festive sweet sensation with you all!

You may have heard of the Lush desserts before, with the pudding and creamy cream cheese layers on top of delicious short bread? I've had and chocolate and lemon, but after I saw they now make red velvet Jell-O pudding mixes I decided to make it holiday inspired and create a red velvet lush dessert!
Boy am I happy I did! I created this as one of the desserts for our Thanksgiving meal primarily so I had lots of guinea pigs to try it out. It was an on for a while mean success and one that I will definitely be making again.
what you'll need
what you'll need
RED VELVET LUSH
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 stick of butter, melted
1/2 cup of chopped pecans
1 (8 oz) brick of cream cheese, softened
1 cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (16) oz tub of Cool Whip, divided
2 (3.4 oz) packages red velvet pudding mix
3 cups of milk
Shaved white chocolate or other desired garnishes
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°. Melt butter in a medium microwave safe bowl. Stir in the flour and pecans. Press mixture in a 9 x 13 pan and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely. Next, beat together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla until smooth and fold in 1 cup of the Cool Whip. Spread over the cooled crust. For the next layer, mix together the pudding mix, milk and then fold in another cup of Cool Whip. Spread over the cream cheese layer then spread the remaining Cool Whip. Garnish with white chocolate or any other garnish desired. Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.

ReplyDeleteThat looks SO yummy... and festive to boot! I try not to make too many desserts since I am the one that eats most of it!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, I'm with you on red velvet! It's my request every year for my birthday cake. This dessert looks so festive and actually, a little lighter than most traditional desserts. Thanks for sharing, friend!! Hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving.

ReplyDeleteI knew I would wish I could sample your dessert for reals!! I even limited myself to one helping of chicken pot pie last night as if I was going to enjoy whatever sweet yumminess you stirred up. Never heard of a Lush. Well, not as a dessert, anyway. This looks so smooth and sinful, such a great compliment of textures. You are the Queen of Desserts, my friend. Pinning and planning for Christmas. XO
