We all have things we worry about. Trust me, with kids getting ready to go to college and their numerous activity and homework pressures, not to mention, my own, worrying is a BIG part of my life! However, I know that I need to let go and let GOD!! Why worry, when he has a plan for me, right? Well, that is easier said than done and there will be days where I will be a worry wart! However, I have decided to let a lot of things go and to simply be Sooo over some of them.
Try it, because let me tell ya, whether the issue or dislike is serious or trivial, letting it go is so very FREEING!!!
Try it, because let me tell ya, whether the issue or dislike is serious or trivial, letting it go is so very FREEING!!!
Here are 9 Things I'M SO OVER:
1. Mom Guilt (over Kids and Fur Babies)
I could do a whole post on this.In theory we all know there is no perfect mother.
And this applies to Fur Baby Moms too.
And this applies to Fur Baby Moms too.
In reality, however, we seem to hold ourselves to a standard of motherhood that's insane. I mean flat-out, crazy-making, cuckoo-land kind of nuts. And if that weren't bad enough, we trick ourselves into believing we're the only ones who fail at everything. Then we beat ourselves up. And tell ourselves mean things at the end of long days. Why didn't I feed them a veggie at dinner? I didn't buy the right shampoo? Did I say the right things when they were upset? For animals, what if that's too many treats? When we've cooked and cleaned and commuted and brought home the bacon and washed and cleaned some more and checked the homework and sung the songs and read the books, we sit down on the sofa and shake our heads and tell ourselves what bad, bad moms we are.
That's insane, that's exhausting. And I'm so over it!
Crap, the power is out so I cannot curl my hair for work, or my cousin got a scary diagnosis and I want him to be ok or there is a train and I cannot get out the line of traffic to go another route. Yep, bad stuff happens that is not under our control. We must roll with the punches. We can pray and we can wish, but some things we simply cannot control. Let it go and hope for the best.
3. People Who Don't Get Blogging.
Do you ever get asked why you Blog? I know I do, and my answer is always, "For the fun of it, it's my hobby, my online diary of sorts." Most people think that is great! How much time does it take? To which I reply "Oh, about 30 hours a week." Then, I get the look as if some people think I'm nuts, especially since I work too and often they add "YOU mean you DON'T get paid for this?" No ma'am, just for fun right now!! End.Of.Story!!

Amen! Letting go is so freeing although difficult to do sometimes. I don't think of myself as a big worrier but there are definitely things that I need to let go. Perfect timing for the first day of school. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire! Will be thinking of you today and praying for a great start!! :-)

DeleteFirst of all you are so perfect so seriously #6 should not be a worry of yours at all!! I'm so with you but the mom guilt even though I'm not a mom I dont think you're going to get rid of that one - i'm 28 and my mom worries, feels bad and has every other emotion over me and my sister!! LOL xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteYou hit it right on! Even as a daughter you totally get your mamas worries! Thank you for your sweet as can be words! You are so very good at knowing exactly what to say and how to make people feel good about themselves! You have a gift girl! Beautiful and super Smart!

DeleteThis is such a great post. I'm not a mom but I can relate to so many of the things you posted about. There totally need to be less judgement and more kindness in this world. I too try to eat a low carb diet but if their is fresh bread in front of me. Oh I have to just a some. Fresh bread is my weak spot.

DeleteSuch a great post, Andrea, and I so get this! I finally threw out the scale and decided to only weigh myself quarterly and I can't tell you how awesome that feeling is!! For so long, I was tied to the number that it said (every morning) instead of being thankful that my close weren't as snug and looked better on me. Now, since this summer and my accident, I haven't been able to walk (exercise), so we'll see, but I know that my clothes are still fitting well. Loved everything about this!
ReplyDeleteSmart girl! Our clothes will do the talking!! Thank you, it feels so good to not obsess over certain things!!! I'm Free I'm Free!! Lol. Hope your Monday is as awesome as you are!!
DeleteI can totally relate to several of these, Andrea! It's always good to know we aren't alone with these things. I have serious dog mom guilt. Particularly every Monday when I have to leave her! And as for the flowers, I'm over them too. I'm focusing on mums now! haha Happy Monday!

DeleteThis is the perfect read for a Monday!!! Such a wholesome way to start the week and be in tune with what will make you happy... don't allow the judgement of others to dwell inside of you and dim your sparkle!

You ROCK beautiful Amber!!
DeleteI have that same pineapple phone case - LOVE it! And I love this post, I feel the same way about that pesky 5-10 lbs and I'd rather stay fit and enjoy food/life than be a size 2 again and know that you look fabulous girl! And those flowers are still gorgeous, much better than anything I've attempted to keep colorful and green :)
ReplyDeleteYou always make me smile Kate!! Thank you for such sweet words! Oh and the pineapple phone case is my most favorite one ever outta about a dozen other past cases! Hope your Monday is off to a fabulous start!! ;-)
DeleteYes to all of these things!!! Though, I don't have kids so I don't have mom guilt. But I can relate to everything else. I am a worrywart and I try really hard to let things go but I still find myself obsessing over some things. I think I needed to read this today!
ReplyDeleteGlad you get it girl! Trying so hard to let things go over here! I'm FREE, I'm free I say!! Just our Type A personalities but I'm working on it! Lol.
DeleteCheers to letting it go, my friend! I'm with you! The worst is feeling guilty about getting back to people when we are all busy and certainly make every effort to be timely. You're going to be sorry I know about this pineapple obsession now lol. I have been seeing the most adorable pineapple POM POM shorts on Amazon that keep getting recommended to me, but I didn't bite the bullet since fall's right around the corner... do it ;)
ReplyDeleteDo it!! Pom Poms and Pineapples!!! Yes, yes, yes!!! Hope you're back in the saddle today sweet friend!!! ;-)
DeleteAndrea, you are so beautiful. You live a healthy lifestyle and you should not worry about 5-10 pounds. I'm also sure that you are an amazing mom to your boys. My mom worries ALL of the time about me and my sisters, it's just natural. :-) I hope that you had a great weekend and that you are having a lovely day today too!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're just such a sweetheart Caroline! Just love you!! Thank you for always making me smile!!! ;-)
DeleteI wish life wasn't always so filled with pressure so we could enjoy it. I think about that all the time and just wish there was less we had to do and we could do more of what we wanted. But I think you're doing pretty well, Andrea! You have an amazing family so you must have been a pretty darn good mom!

Susie, you make the works such a better place!! Your positivity is contagious!! Thank you for making me smile and well, for being YOU! You're truly a blessing! ;-)
DeleteDear Andrea: I don't know where to start - what an amazing and honest post of yours! I can relate with you on so many aspects! Like you, I am a working mother who also blogs and decided to start her own jewelry business. I worry about my son, and yes, 3 dogs ALL THE TIME. I want to be a good a mother, wife, worker, entrepeneur, etc. but at the end at the day I learned that I cannot be perfect all the time. So, I love that your posts says: "Let it go!" because it's so true. I think you are doing such a fab job of being a mother, wife and blogger! I really enjoy reading your blog because I can relate with you on so many levels (it's a mom thing), and I really hope you NEVER stop! Let people talk - at the end of the day you simply do what makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteSending you much love & I hope your Monday is as marvelous like you!!!

Vanessa, you are nothing short of AMAZING!! I knew you would be able to relate to this post and I too think you're doing a tremendous job balancing it all and your family is very very lucky to have you! The fact that you even care about this so much speaks volumes to what a wonderful person you are! Never let that light of yours dim, because it shines so bright and it's so beautiful! xo
DeleteI totally hate trying to explain blogging to people who just don't get it hahaha! Like let me blog in peace people!
ReplyDeletewww.amemoryofus.com
Good motto. Let me blog in peace!! I love it!!! Happy rest of your Monday!!
DeleteI can relate to so many of these point. It really is hard to balance everything and it def won't be perfect. I agree that it's best to let it go, and just be happy!
ReplyDeleteMimi & Chichi
Aww thanks Jess!!! Hope your week is off to a great start!!! ;-)
DeleteIt's good to let go for sure and not let the little things get us down. I'm sure you were an amazing mom that raised your kids really well but who's perfect out there? So we all make mistakes here and there. It's easier said than done but I too try to let go of the stressors and focus on all the positives.
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily. I have always been a positive person but now I'm so much happier to worry less! You're such an uplifting spirit! Have a great rest of your evening!!

Oh I just love this!! I needed to read this today, maybe every day. Amen to the mom guilt!
ReplyDeleteBrooke
Let it go! Ha ha! I'm glad you could relate! The mom guilt is the toughest of all. Tomorrow is s new day and it will be GREAT!!! ;-)
DeleteYou go girl! I so need to work on some of these, too. We are all called to do different things, and walk different journeys. I often look at other peoe through social media and compare myself. It's crazy! People only post the "good" most of the time, not the full picture. Loved this!
ReplyDeleteI was born in 1988 but I still remember the days before people were expected to respond to messages/calls instantly and be available 24/7. I could leave a message on somebody's answering machine on Saturday night and it was okay to not hear from them before we went back to school on Monday.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love this! I laughed, shook my head, said AMEN and laughed some more. Thanks for sharing on our Tuesday Talk today. Yes to #8!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good perspective! There are lots of things I need to "get over" - many of them on your list. Thanks for the inspiration! Hope you're having a great week.
ReplyDeleteI love that you tell it like it is
ReplyDeleteFACT: those diet bars taste like cardboard
Yes you are so right, why beat yourself up about a few pounds! Life's too short

I love this post so much. Ditto on the weight issue. I can def stand to lose a few lbs, but yeah, I'll never look like I did in HS, that's for sure. I wish I could be as creative or hands-on as some of those moms out there, but honestly, keeping the kids fed, alive, & happy works for me. I do agree w/you on the not replying to texts, calls, etc except when it's a friend who you know for a fact replies to others within secs/mins, but with you, it takes forever for some unknown reason. But then again, if that's the case, that begs the question if they're even your friend at all, right?
ReplyDeleteI looooooooooooooove this post. It made me laugh!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNumber one is great - I love this list - life is short and it's so free feeling to not sweat the small stuff. Set the example and move forward with a smile. Have a Great day enjoyed this!
