What teen, pre-teen, newly married couple, old couple with needs, lol...what do they all want for Christmas...Money!!! It's fun to get money but what is even more fun is to get it in a clever way, not just in an envelope. Our sons are fun to buy for but we always give them some amount of cash. Last year I created these money jars, for our boys add our niece and nephew. They were a huge hit. Wait til you see what I have planned this year, my favorite clever way to date to give money and I'll share after they receive it.
Get ya a a few big ole bags of Skittles or any other favorite loose candy. I got these from Sam's. Our fam is Skittles crazy. (I got 3) 54oz bags and it filled the 5 jars I made exactly. You can BUY them HERE too!
Hobby Lobby has the cutest gift tags. 6 of them, like these Santas are only $1. I tied them around the jars....The jars are also from Hobby Lobby or Amazon. Every other week or so, They have 50% off of glass items and these 32 oz puppies were a great deal. Get one HERE too.
Yep the center is what holds the money in the middle of all the candy, it is exactly what you probably think it is, Empty toilet paper tubes. I kept forgetting to save them, so for the last one, I literally had to unroll a whole roll of TP, just to get this stinking' tube, lol
Cover it with scrapbook paper and you'd never know..
Fill jars about half up, the put money in the roll and slide in. Carefully full in around the tube with scoopfuls of Skittles
Since you don't want to turn it upside down, again I bought medium sized gift bags at Hobby Lobby
and sat them down in the bags. Easy peasy..no wrapping involved
BUY A SET OF 4 JARS HERE //
A 2 Pack HERE // or A SINGLE JAR HERE
54 oz Bag of Skittles HERE
These were a huge hit and they found other uses for the jars.

What an adorable idea! I love this! Pinning!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! My oldest son and nephew always just want money but I always feel bad they don't have anything to unwrap. One year I wrapped boxes inside of each other and the last one held the dinero. I'm also known for giving out lots of small bills all rolled up and tied with a bow individually. I actually have the perfect jar and may have to steal your idea this year!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea - and could be used for birthdays too! Thanks for sharing it with us :)!
ReplyDeleteThese are so stinking adorable and may just be what I do for my nieces and nephew this year! THANK YOU for the awesome idea!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so fantastic. My nieces would LOVE this!!!
ReplyDeleteYou just marked a gift off my list!
Such a cute and creative idea! I think this is an awesome gift for a coworker, maybe doing a gift card or something in the middle. I know I love having little jars of candy at my desk to munch on whenever I get that urge!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love it! :) Will you adopt me?
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cute idea--we might do this with our nieces and nephew this year since they are so hard to buy for
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! This is such a cute idea! I'm not giving out any money (typically I'm on the receiving end of this one) but I'll have to remember this if I have kids someday!
ReplyDeleteThis is so stinking cute! I think we might have to do this for our nephews for their birthdays next year!!
ReplyDeleteThis is great idea! I don't like money touching food. Germs and stuff all around!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great idea! I totally wouldn't even think that there was anything in those jars besides candy, so what a "sweet" surprise :)
ReplyDeleteCute!! And such a great idea with the cash in the middle! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea! Definitely pinning this!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! Hope you are having a great day, Andrea!

Trendy & Tidy
I used mini holiday peanut butter cups to make one for my nephew one year (though in reading yours I had wished that I thought to cover the TP roll with decorative paper!). He was so happy to get the jar of candy I had to ask him three times to open it and check out what was inside!
ReplyDeleteYou are so crafty and creative, I just love it. This is such a cute idea that I will be saving for next year...adding it to my Pinterest board. Hobby Lobby always has the best deals...they are amazing, but not as amazing as YOU! Hope you're having a wonderful week beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteIf I get a good paycheck before Christmas, I so want to do this. Maybe make it a New Year's gift? Just love this idea! Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to give money. It's so much more fun than in an envelope! I can't wait to see this year's idea!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be using this idea! Some people on our list are hard to shop for, but I feel like handing over a gift card or cash is not really enough.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! Im adding it to my list.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! My son wants money for christmas is this will be the perfect way to "jazz it up." Stopping by from the link up
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! Peanut m&ms over here though!
ReplyDeleteI did something similar for some of our nieces and nephews last year and they thought it was just a jar of sweets at first. What was nice was that they were still really happy with that idea, so the money inside really worked as a total bonus surprise. i used larger wrapped sweets so the jars filled quicker and more cheaply but I have to say your Skittles filled jars look super cool!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, love this it is so creative :) You are one of this weeks Creative Mondays features again this week, thanks so much for sharing.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I'm featuring you this week!
for several years I have given my 3 granddaughters money for Christmas. I stash it in an ornament and hang it on the tree with their initials secretly written on it and the year.. They have to find it to get the money and they get to keep the ornament for their tree.
